You had a Drum Grid where you could do drums in but you couldn't make the Piano Notes longer by mouse.
You had to literally Step-Edit everything… so if you want to do that you're better of with a DAW

I Always chop on the Kick/Snare also but when the Hi-Hats in between the beats go out of time all the time i chop it on the Hi-Hat also. So 8 chops for 1 bar.
A lot of drummers timing isn't perfect.
Trillian is the best of the best.
If you still on 32-bit DAW, than Analog Warfare 3 sounds really good. (It's free, I still need to sample all the bass-sounds out of this plugin for future use)
I love FL at heart to.
Although i do gotta say i always found other DAWs looking sexier.
There's barely colors being used. It's mostly grey.
But with a nice background, coloring the mixer, it can still look attractive.
I actually found FL very intimidating at first also though.
But once you know a DAW it's easier to switch to another cause you know a lot of terms already. All though all DAWs use different names for similar things.
Same with Synths and Samplers.
