Drum Kits - Your ideal collection
Yeah, I gotta agree with Chrono on this. Your MPC is as good as the samples you put in it and sequence. Sample some records, chop up some MP3s and see what kits you can come up with. Check out the 300 breaks CD like Sonorous suggested. Thats a real good starting point and chop up those drums... -

Tips for sampling
Also, what I love to do is after I've done my chopping, I take certain sample say, the guitar bass in it, copy it eq all the highs out of it until all I have is just the bass. Then, any samples that have high freqs like horns or voices or junk like that and filter out all the lows. Then I... -

Dude, you won't regret it. Be sure to cop you some CD Roms for sounds for your ASR (if you haven't already). It reads AKAI & Roland disks as well as Ensoniq CD Roms. You will want to add a scsi zip drive to your set up as well. Both units can read it. I have two different drawers full of zip... -
