bro we all been there. i assum elol

Got to a point I stopped doing NYC because it didnt actually do anything. Only thing it really does for me these days is bring up the hihats n make them sometimes go too crazy. But still, there's a time and a place. I do a lot of opposites of what I used to do too now.

I've also cleared my mind of most clichés or 'do this' 'you must do that' type shit. I just listen and feel
Word! I rarely use NYC these days. And if I do it’s ever so subtlety. Just kick and snare…but I’ve found running dual side chain comp works better.

Very slightly.

The multiband compressor in logic sucks
So I just load up two compressors
On a separate bus and route everything to that before the master…sometimes.
I feel like each question I ask we get deeper into this whacky system you've got going on.

I'll ask a couple more questions and you'll be like "yeah cause I'm bussing out through a guitar pedal with the cables running through the road and mic'd up and reamped in a shitty toilet with a bandpass and saturation for extra gritt"

The most important is to ALWAYS boost 80 Hz and cut 2.5k Hz.

The beat is cool but I hoped to hear you singing.
the phone I had when I came up with that was too shite to record. fortunately a relative got stabbed recently and I got a new one, so you'll be hearing more of that from now on.

I used to have something like @BiggChev some times ago. It ahs been from simple to complex while learning.
Now, I tend to go back and not use anything until I'm forced to because I really need it. If it's just acceptable, I think, ok. Fuck it, It's kind of laziness.

Now that I have no time and I want to create a few beats for the ill, I just put on the buses: Waves Vitamin C, Multipressor, H-U-E Stain, Tape Saturator, and L-Maximizer Limiter. Sometimes that’s enough. Alternatively, I put the mixdown in one of my templates that I prepared (not in order): VEQ3 Parametric, another EQ for low frequencies that I can't remember the name of right now, JP37 Tape Saturator, Pushifer Compressor, SSL Compressor, JP37 Tape Saturator, and L Maximizer Limiter. I also use a V-Comp for parallel compression (in mono). This Is good for pushing.

OH I forgot we're talking mix too.

if it's a regular track:

LA2A on everything
fl stock eq (occasionally TR-5 EQual)
slap a clipper/saturator on the master
that's pretty much it

if it's real shi:

LA2A on everything
1167 if I'm feeling adventurous / tryna make drums drum / bass isn't bassing
SSL G-bus if I'm trying to achieve something specific like pump or a certain sorta punch or... I fw usin bus comps for single stuff.
vari-mu on buses, glue purposes (ssl works here too sometimes. or 1176. it's situational.)

fl stock eq for butcher jobs like resonance hunting n cutting lows n doing exaggerated shi n...
TR-5 EQual generally for everything
pultec EQP-1A for adding oomph to shit (works WONDERS on low-end. the attenuate knob is basically the throb knob)

nectar 3 if I'm dealing with vocals/dirty recordings (also rx 11 stuff if shi is super dirty/important)
a lot of guitar rig 6 (or rarely amplitube 4) on anything that sounds boring

valhalla verb
valhalla delay, mostly for setting time to 0, mix to 100 and making weird effects

super exaggerated ozone exciter on the whole master cause fun

that's about it, I can't think of much more. and it's rare that I use allllllllllll that in a track. regular la2a treatment usually does it lmao.
Valhalla verb me too

I like trueverb too. now that I have to make some beats in the lunch break in a hurry I can't stay there so much or do the mastering, that's how I did that for the sign up. And the tape saturator doesn't even do a drastic job, but this satin is cool I guess it's my favorite right now
