Lynn,MA based producer Wizard At Will has been a member at ILL since 2006. "Homework vol1" is his latest beat tape; time for the review.
1.Intro (4 out of 5 Good)
A laid back instrumental with a nice 80's like guitar driven sample.
2.Middle East 90 (3 out of 5 Fair)
This one uses a sped up Arabic sample, interesting concept but slightly irritating.
3.Sell Out (5 out of 5 Classic)
What a superb vocal sample. The soulfulness reminds me of early Kanye and Just Blaze works.
4.Exspendables (5 out of 5 Classic)
Dope emotional sample and hard drums.
5.Hair Band (4 out of 5 Good)
Nice synths and sped up vocals but a tad too messy.
6.Mid Tro (4 out of 5 Good)
Nice chromatic sample. Drums are on point.
7.707! (4 out of 5 Good)
The beat starts after a Borat snippet. Solid chops.
8. Japan Homebrew (4 out of 5 Good)
Smooth beat using an Asian sample.
9. The Wrong Sample (3.5 out of 5 Fair)
Wrong sample? Maybe not but that pop-rock sound isn't my cup of tea.
10.Week 3 (4 out of 5 Good)
Solid guitar driven beat.
11.81 (4.5 out of 5 Very Good)
Nice flip of classic sample.
12.Unplug (4 out of 5 Good)
Solid melancholic instrumental with nice guitars and violins.
13.Week 9 (4.5 out of 5 Very Good)
Same as "81".
14.Bonus Track (4 out of 5 Good)
Nice jazzy horns and keys.
15.Bonus Track 2 (4.5 out of 5 Very Good)
See number 11. and 13.
16.Outro (4 out of 5 Good)
Some nice Wutangish strings.
Conclusion: a solid beat tape with various types of beats. Emcees don't hesitate to get this.
Final Score: 4 out of 5
