Ok guys, I've made the switch to XP for recording, but now I can't access the internet. Everything is setup up fine as far as the net options are concerned. I even called my ISP cust sppt, and they walked me through what I did like 500 times before I called them. No help. I believed it's a local problem I'm thinkin it's a driver problem, but I have on-board LAN. My mobo is a foxcon 865A01. I know there's probably a million different solutions, but if you guys ask questions, I'll answer them and maybe I can get to the bottom of this. Thanx. Out.

to determine if its the network controller,,try this:

control panel>Systems>Hardware Tab>Device Manager

anything with a yellow exclamation point means its not functional,,,

,,if it is a driver issue you can do 2 thing,,,

download them from your MoBo's maker site

or, use the driver disk that came with the PC

The driver disk isn't working. I think I need the Intel Lan CD. Tried to dl but too big to fit on floppy, the only capability i have. I really don't know what to do. I'll try to contact by phone during the week.

-Did you get any errors while installing XP?
-The motherboard's drivers should already be okay, that's kind of odd that you'd have to install them.
-Did you check your BIOS? I would troubleshoot there first before looking at XP as the problem. If you can't see certain devices or settings in there, then right away you'll know it's your mobo.

If your motherboard is okay and all the drivers are okay, I'd suggest re-installing XP just to see what happens. But do a complete install! This is what I use to complete wipe my drive, that way there's nothing left at all, then I re-install XP.

But let us know first about the BIOS.

Yeah the error message that I get says I need to use the Intel Lan CD. Unfortunately I don't have that disk. I'll check the BIOS, but also going I'm to check out the USB capabilities of the modem. Thanks ya'll.
