Heres my situation:

I own a motif 6 keyboard, computer software, and an mpc... I'm startin a new hip hop group with a friend of mine and he doens't have any equipment but he has about 1000 bucks saved up and he wants to get some equipment for making beats but we don't want to get the same shit that i have so Does anyone have any suggestions of what he should get that can expand our variety of sounds, and music making?

If i was your friend i would invest in turntables, a computer and a stack load of old vinyl. You could also combine all your stuff together and do all the sequencing on your equipment and buy some decent monitors and mic's with the $1000 your friend has to spend

thanx guys those are actually some hella good ideas a nice mic and some turntables would b pretty bomb.... I was kinda leaning towards some other typa drum machine or keyboard that aren't the motif 6 and the mpc but somthin he could use to make beat and different enough from my shit so we can have more broad of a range of a sound.

not really for taht price range.. the only real option would be an emu mp-7...

your problem is that your "sound" and his sound will be different depending on yuor production styles. you arent exactly working with a lot and i gave you a very solid option in yuor mailbox. if you are that determined to keep it another keyboard or drum machine and get quality for under a g and you refuse to incorperate a pc and software then you are really limited because your only drum machine options are the emu command station series or an older roland mc-series drum machine... otherwise we are talking serious quality drops.....

so, we gave you the best viable options. his sound and your sound will be different based on styles.

I agree with Cold Truth about the MP-7 and how your sound might be too different though. But my other opinion would be: Your friend gets an MPC too. So then when you want to load your beat, all you need is your ZIPs whether your at yours or his place. And if one of you is at anothers house, and they wanna make a beat, they can use yours. Instead of going all the way back home to get there MP-7, they already know how to use an MPC.

yeah thanx for the advice.. cold truth i mite have explained my situation unclearly... I do have computer software like protools and i use that for all my beats but yea my friends probly gunna get an mpc i jus wanted to see if u guys knew of any other equipment so we can use more than jus the same beat boxes so we have more variety of equipment and so that i can work with some other peice than what i have
