What tecnique do you use to, perfect your skills?

I mean like, how would I go about perfecting my melody tecnique and etc.

My melodies suck ass, but my drum patterns are iight, how or what should i do to practice and perfect my melody. Atleast one to make a vaild hip-hop beat at best, What patches, instruments, sounds, etc, and practice tecniques. like what should i do to get better, i hate to sound 2 new. But im just looking to get better, please only post helpful feedback.

practice makes perfect player. but to be more elaborate, learn a few chords and try to learn some scales. thats the most important. or just keep messing with the keyboard. usually, i'll start with drums and then just mess around and try to make a melody on my midi controller. oh and if you dont have one, get one. think of melodies in your head and try to play them on the keyboard. get your hands on some vsts to get some different sounds. heres a link to get you started on some chords.

thats the best i can tell you. all else i can say is just keep practicing.
