What software do you guys use? For recording I know most use Pro Tools or Cubase, but for laying down beats what do you guys use?

well a majority here uses Fruity Loops here and close behind that is Reason, but you can use Cubase,Sonar with a few VSTinstruments. Now if you are talking about laying down the beat for the vocals!? then Cubase,Sonar,Protools,Logic(mac),ect....do a search on the site this has been beat to death. hope this helps.

^^^^I was sure you was gonna say that, Class lol

anyhow... the subject has been discussed over and over again... I dont really know Reason myself, but here are some threads talking about that issue...

https://www.illmuzik.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11434 <--- real simple

https://www.illmuzik.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10307 <--- in dept, but harder to understand

https://www.illmuzik.com/forums/showthread.php?t=156 <---- what people here are using

do a search on the forum before asking questions. A lot of subject were discussed already, like that one.

Scratch that... FL looks awful. I cannot possibly do my style in FL.. it will need to be Reason.

Thank you for those links.

true that... fruity Loops can do pretty much what you wanna do, actually, if you dont like the FLStudio Interface, maybe you should go for Cubase or even Cakewalk if you're looking for music charts and stuff...

Other than that, Fruity is pretty much as simple and user friendly as you can get, man...

It says that reason comes with a lot more sounds, and I like rich orchestration and texture... so perhaps it is still better to learn in fruity loops? I saw Reason, and to be honest I'm confused as hell lol..

Sygma... U never e-mailed me back...

I actually did... but anyways...

you do have some good sounds with Reason, but you can have comparable sounds with any program anyways...

And, if you thought Fruity Loops was confusing, well, take a look at Reason...
But I gotta say the NNXT (in reason) got some reaaaal good orchestral sounds...

For Making beats I strongly recommend Fruity Loops 5 Producer Edition. Alot of cats hate on FL, but come to find out I'm making better beats than them. I would also tell you if you need hot sample instruments order them on ebay(only about $10 for 10,000)! For recording I would say Adobe 1.5, but not so much Acid Pro. Have one million dollars worth of equipment won't make your beats sound any better, its all about the talent you are given. Think far!
