What is the significance of the WAV

I am a producer and I use logic pro x, I wanted to know what the significance of the WAV file is and when is it appropriate to use?

? Well that is probably the format you record audio in to with Logic. It is for uncompressed audio, this will give you high quality over something like mp3 that is compressed and lower quality.
