this is a question i have been meaning to ask for some time.

looking at a lot of our conversations here, including debates i have gotten into with a few of you, i can see that a lot of you have some strong political views, usually depending on your race and life experience. thats a nice thing if you ask me- there IS more to us then drum machines and endless software vs hardware arguments.

so..... i am wondering what, if anyting you guys believe in on a more spiritual level. what do you believe in, and why?

if you dont believe in anything, thats cool.

HOWEVER.....

....... please DO NOT ruin this thread by saying things like "their aint no god, my gun is god, what" ( i have gotten answers like that before) or " all i need a is a blunt and a B%$# and im straight" ....

i mean thats cool if thats how you feel or whatever, but i want real answers here and real reasons. its a serious question.

This will probably end up in a debate when it comes to politics and religeon. I personally do not believe in Church Or Any of the man made brainwashing. Why must you go to church every sunday to listen to some mercedes driving reverend talk about how god needs donations. I believe god is a force of energy thats inside every living thing from plants to ants.

I do not believe god punishes or the devil punishes or any of the heaven and hell non sense. Those are just excuses made by man to cover for their fear of death and the unknowing. Just a few hundred years ago man thought when you got the flu it was gods work since they had no microscopes to see the virus. In 200+ years, if humans live that long science will crush most of these extreme reliegous beliefs that exist today with facts and look back at all this death and destruction caused by religeon and be ashamed of the human race. I already am ashamed of it.

I can't type fast enough to answer this with what I really think so I will shorten it up.

I believe in God but I cannot specify what kind of God or Who. I come from a family of a huge religious background so that is why I am not very religious. It is hard for me to accept one religon and cancel all others out. My Mom is Filipino so she is Catholic. My Dad is black and he is Baptist. My Grandma is 7 Day Aventis. My Aunt is Muslim. My brother has married into Mormanism...don't even ask me about that dawg. My girlfriend it nondenomitional Christian. And my other brother didn't believe in God.

I try to look at the people envolved with the religion to see which one I should try on and so far Christianity is winning but I saw a special on Angels on the History Channel that phuct me all up. That song on the first Gza album B.I.B.L.E. also didn't help me out too much either.

Abysmal is a Philosophy major so we dive into religious debates all the time so that doesn't help me out too much either. Leaves me more confused than I was before.

I have seen too much and been through too much to say that this life is all we got and there is no greater being so all I can say there is something more, but what it is I don't know. But then again, who knows for sure? Until we die that is...

you believe god is a force of energy thats inside everything..... but what brings you to that conclusion?

god and the devil are far from excuses made by man; every culture from every walk of life has its on version of vry similar concepts. take the flood: you have many tribes in south america who have similar tales as the bible, in the midle east, even china has its "myth" of the flood. thats just an example...

the point being that regardless of the particular system, it is very hard to argue (with any substance outside of a plain ol' opinion) with god and the devil, good and evil, all of it.

do you believe that this earth, this universe happened by chance? take everything you know about religion and your opinions on what exists today in the fom of those reliogions- do you REALLY believe that we just kind of happened, that "first there was nothing- then it exploded"? if so, what supports that belief?

to believe in something with no foundation to stand on is in itself an excuse to cover a fear of unknowing.

as far as science crushing "religion"- well, that isnt very likely. it continually supports creation as opposed to evolution/solopsism/big bang etc- that is, the SOLID findings. their theories as to our origin are all fractured at its absolute best. now, this is only an isue because it is being taught as FACT in our schools and colleges, when the truth is that much of this consists of half truths and at times outright lies.

to ominous, listen to me when i tell you that for those who diligently seek God, He will satisfy that quest- you have much in front of you to learn from. please do not be one taks that experience and picks and chooses and comes up with a conglomerate "best of" belief that you call your own- that is a lonely and dangerous road to walk.

First and foremost, I believe that every single thing (not just living things) is an expression of an infinite power, which is essentially ENERGY

I believe that God, Allah, Yahweh etc are different lables for the same infinite power......and I disagree with any form of violence based on whose lable is the right one. I believe there are truths in the Bible but i think they have been tampered with and intereperated wrongly. I dont believe in churches and paying the priest. I dont believe in creation. It is scientifically proven, through the discovery of skeletons, that humans were on Earth long before the time when God apparantly put us here.

I believe that the infinite power is goverened by "natural laws" such as the law of vibration (everything vibrates at a particular speed. Nothing is created nor distroyed, only changed in vibration frequency) and the well known law of cause and effect. When ANYTHING happens, it is through natural law. There are many natural laws.

I believe that the human mind is the creative connection we have with the infinite power and the natural laws. We are able to form images in our minds and then make necessary actions to mannifest these images in our lives. All things created by man-kind started as an image on the screen of the mind.

I believe that ultimate enlightenment is achieved by having the mind control to be able to remove the sense of "self." When a person can live in their mind and be objective to his body the ego is killed. When the ego is killed, nothing can affect the person except their own thoughts. For a SIMPLE example.....Jon goes up to sally and says "your a bitch".......sally runs off saying "he mad me unhappy." thats not true..sally made herself unhappy by leaving her ego exposed. The monk in my avitar set hislef on fire. He is burning to death....but he has no connection to his body and therefor cannot feel a thing. He is in a state of pure bliss. When a person is able to live in their mind, they understand they are a part of the infinite energy, which is EVERYTHING in existance. This is as opposed to "What about me!"

I believe that good and evil are the both sides of the same coin. I believe that you cannot have one without the other. I belive that this understanding, which can only be achieved by having objective awareness, cancels out the idea of evil. This is understood through the law of opposites.

I could go on forever.....

I also believe that I may misunderstand the truth.

peace

Damn this is probably one of the smartest and most intriguing post, in that it kinda exposes us as more than producers...can always count on Truth for that.

As for me, my girl and her family are always begging me to go to church with them and i always refuse (kindly) im not a church dude, i dont feel like u have to go to church to worship or praise god or whatever and i definately dont think u need to get dressed up for this.

my constant refusals have led my girl to joke that i was an athiest, that got me to thinkin...i can admit to there being a short time where i didnt really feel as though there was a god, i feel like things happen cuz they just do, i cant explain everything but i dont think anybody controls my action or looks over "ME" and just "ME", and i never believed the "everything happens for a reason".

as of recently my thought have kinda changed through personal experience and reading, which i do lots of, i have etermined that there may be a god out there, but i dont practice any particular religion....

and thats me.

Tell em CiTY sent ya!!!

I feel christianity was used in order to keep slaves in line and the white slave owner used this religion against all of his black slaves...As Phill said
he thinks religion is man made I think it is man made to an extent the whole thing is funny...They would tell slaves be good don't rebel against master let us keep hagging you whipping you and rapping your women and when you die you will go to a place a lot better than here....I the whole thing about the old testament and the new is crazy...the old said eye for an eye tooth for a tooth and thou shall not eat the flesh of an animal with a split hoof(pork) but in the new it says turn the other cheek and as long as it's blessed by god you can eat it??I don't see how god can make 2 versions of his holy book.....Somthing else I notcied is

(not knocking anyones faith so please this is not directed at any one person on illmuzik or in this thread )If you talk to 20 cristians you get 19 stories if you talk to 20 muslims you get one story....I'm not a full fledge Muslim but when it comes time for me to be religous Islam is the religion for me

"It is scientifically proven, through the discovery of skeletons, that humans were on Earth long before the time when God apparantly put us here."

i have to strongly disagree here. there is not a continuation of any consistancy between these fossils. they find a skull, a jawbone, sometimes they are even fortunate enough the majority of a skeleton.
tell me, why do we never hear of an entire civilization of these remains being discovered? it is always one person, one skull, a few at the most. if there were entire villages of "cro-magnon man" and "homo-erectus" then why havent we found them? the truth of the matter is that there is MUCH more than one "missing link".

what about laws of physics? the speed of light has been slowed down and clocked at 35 miles an hour.... a far cry from the "set" 186,000 per second science says it is. radio carbon dating has dated man made objets a few days old to 65 million years; how is this reliable?

hood- been a whie since we debated something! here goes...

the truth is, christianity has been used for many wrong things, even perverted and twisted and posing as christianity today (im not even gonna go there....) and it WAS used against the slaves, it was used in the inquisition, it is even used by white supremists as a base for anti semitism. i cant deny that, nor would i; i also know that my God is not what these people have done. their actions will be dealt with come judgement day. please do not consider all Christians to be what others were in the past.

what about muslims treatment of the jews? what about destroying the twin towers for jihad? they are not without their own sins, my friend. what about the number of muslims with liquor stores that sell porn? doesnt that perversion go against the teachings of islam? all i am saying is that you can always point out the faults of the individuals; that does not make the faith any more or less valid.

as far as 20 christians all saying something different and 20 muslims all agreeing, well no that isnt the truth. there are many sects in islam just as their are many sects of christianity! there are many of them and they war amongst themselves. i am not being argumentative here, i am just saying that this isnt a valid assesment of the contrast between the two..

as far as the pig and things that were ok now being ok, that isnt true either. we are no longer bound by the law- Christ was the fulfillment of the law, which was the only "legal" way to make him a worthy sacrifice for our own sins. the wages of sin equals death; Christ took that debt upon Himself. the new testamant did not change the law; rather, God knows we are not capable of that fulfillment on our own and made provision for that. we still sin, but are no longer seen as sinners in His eyes. the law didnt change, fornication is still bad, the law remains exactly the same..... but even though i am guilty of these sins i will not recieve a punishment for them. that is part of tyhe significance of Christ in our faith.

truthtold.......villages of skeletons HAVE been found.

science has proven more things than people who claim to be devinely inspired....simple as that. ofcourse science will make mistakes....you cant succeed without making mistakes. edison would have gone through a billion light bulbs before he succeeded. the person who slowed down the speed of light to 35 miles an hour would have been a SCIENTIST HIMSELF.

Either way, there are only two places to go for this kind of information. One is science and the other is theology. both agree that there is an infinite power which is neither created nor destroyed and is 100% evenly present in all places at all times. thats why there is no explanation to the question: "how was God himself created".......the only answer is "he was always here".....well ofcourse, EVERYTHING was always here. Nothing is created nor destroyed, only changed in vibration. I believe that everything we interacts with is the result of natural law......certain vibration rates clashing with other vibration rates.

judjement day....lol....whats his criteria?

and another thing.....i find it amusing when people say....."god created me in his image and therefor im the most important thing to him" etc.
Humans are equivelant to a spec of dust withing gods infinit universes.

of course it was scientists; it was an experiment. the fact that science makes so many mistakes only tells me one thing- it takes
information+knowledge of how to apply that information in order to produce the results that they have been able to thus far. right? trial and error. i am sure we can agree here. it takes time and learning and various elements working together to produce these experiments.... this is the opposite of chance.

"judgment day- lol" whats my criteria? well lets see- what these people did in the "name of god"- supposedly the same god i serve- does not line up with waht the bible- the same book they went (the church itself did, the people really didnt have access to it in that time) by-tells them. the bible says that there are many that would do things in the name of christianity, but many of these would be false. these people will be judged and sentenced- according to my faith.

one thing- lets not start getting disrespectful- if you want to leave mocking coments, please dont. thanks.

I take it you're religeous and go to church. You know why every culture has a form of god? Because they are all scared of dying. Why do you think some muslims beleive when you die you have 40 or whatever virgins waiting for you with wealth? Cmon that sounds like a fairy tale. Why do Christians believe when you die you go up to heaven and see your dead family members? To comfort the fear. Hell is just a made up place to keep some kind of order so that people will do good. Oh no you dont want to do that you'll go to hell. To me its all make believe like the tooth fairy.

The reason I believe in the big bang because everything is pushing away from each other as we speak. Everything is moving away from everything. That doesnt just happen for nothing, the big bang can be that godlike force i'm talking about. God to me is not some big white man in the clouds. As for you saying believing in something with no foundation or beliefe like the big bang. Well thats more reasonable than the whole bible god thing. There's more scientific explanation for life and the universe than god. As for the skeleton thing. People have already said what I want to say on that.

yes i do agree that it is trial and error. my point ist no good to make science look bad by pointing out one of the mistakes they made. ofcourse "science makes so many mistakes" science is the element which delves into deeper into the operation of things.

i thought it was up to God to judge everyone on judgement day...not you. i was asking what Gods criteria was.

i didnt mock you and i didnt disrespect you. i read the words
"judgement day" and it made me laugh..... then i wrote my question. dont take things so personally

oh, ok. it just looked like you were mocking me.... its cool.

it is up to God to judge them- however i will know His children by the fruits of their lives. i am not judging anyone; i merely recognize what lines up and what doesnt. only God knows the truth behind that. Gods criteria is this-

we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus. but that faith without fruit- works- is dead, because a follower of Christ will have the fruits of the Holy Spirit- the bible notes 15 of them- outward, tangeble evidence of their salvation. some of these are love, joy, mercy, things of that nature. this isnt to be confused with spiritual gifts- prophecy, discernment, etc... anyhow this is the "long story short" version of it, in the context of my beliefs.

I take it you're religeous and go to church. You know why every culture has a form of god? Because they are all scared of dying. no, i have reasons for my faith, and there is much to support my beliefs that i know. i have been a believer the last 10 years of my life, and the last year or so i have began researching the x's and o's of that belief. the bible says we perish for lack of knowledge- referring to believers- and so i am on my way to that knowledge. i am not always right, and i am not always worng, and i will say somethings at times that i am not properly educated to argue- and i am fine with that, as i am learning.

as far as the big bang... you cant have nothing and then have it turn into something out of thin air- when i have time i will write more in depth as to why....

the beginnings of life can not be explained with a god, wether it is mine or someone elses, and i will post (when i have time... i am at work as i write this) reasons why. the beginnings of this planet has so many scientific and mathamatical improbabilities it is impossible for it to have began as a result of chance..... it really isnt possible, scientificly. i will show you why soon.

tangible things can be touched, objects.....you cant touch love and joy etc

i wonder how strong and for how many minutes/hours/days/years etc you have to have faith in Jesus to be accepted and saved

also, what date is judgement day?

There is no law that says you cant have nothing and it turn into something. Humans dont have the brain power to know everything. The universe is to vast to understand. You cant just say something cant come from nothing when space itself is a form of nothingness. Like I said the big bang could be the force you call god. God is just a man made word. Just like the bible. The bible was written by men who exagerate stories and make up things like the telephone game you play in elementary school. Something may have started out like a man ran 100 yards to save his family. 3000 years later that story is, A man walked across water and was able to fly to his family. You cant take the bible literally.

hmmmm... semantics. maybe tangeble wasnt the correct word...... how about visable?

what date is judgement day? is that a serious question?
um...... well no one knows the bible tells me.

how long is instantaneous..... as far as what it takes to be saved... living that out is a different story in itself. i do not know the absolute smallest detail of these things. i know that i could form a theological understanding that would never produce a rock-solid answer to a question like that- it deals with an issue of the heart, and that is something no man can measure. i can make an assesment of the outward appearance... but then there is an issue of discernment; people can fake real well. there are things in Christianity that i will never know or understand fully.

as far as beatoff...... there are reasons why this isnt possible, not just because i choose to feel that it isnt. so you feel that the bible was written by a bunch of guys who like to exagerate, well alright then! what do you have to contribute besides that? if you want to argue my points, please give me reasons! otherwise why waste your time with me?

beatoff....my point was that there is NO SUCH THING as notthingness. space is not nothing...it is space - a certain air pressure and particles etc. nothing is created nor destroyed only changed...that means EVERYTHING is already here.

i dont think i have to answer to anyone but myself
