What do you think is a good Mic to use on vocals in the studio?

Hey,

THE vocal mic is the Neuman U-87...I don't know if it is the BEST mic, but it's one that you hear a lot of on modern records.

It will cost you a pretty penny...

^^ Very true. I used the Newman years ago when I was comparing different mics and man it just blew the others away. And yes it is very expensive but well worth it.

Shure SM58 or SM57 are both pretty good, affordable mics, if your budget is low....and it won't sound crumby or anything, especially with hiphop because for rapping it's better to use a good sturdy mic instead of a very expensive condensor mic wich is better at picking up high frequencies that you hardly use anyway recording rap...
