Virus Scans and false positives...?

What it isss.

I recently did a scan on a downloaded setup.exe file, and my software reported it as a trojan.packed.38378 ...

I hear that some packed files get reported as viruses, should I be concerned by this and remove it orrr?

I've heard that Keygens can show up as threats but are usually safe. I stay away from them anyway. But I've never heard of a Keygen coming up as a trojan though, so I'd say trash it.

Edit: I just did some research and it says that it's very common for Keygens to show up as trojans with Norton. So I guess it's possible to be safe but I wouldn't do it.

Yeah I tend to get rid of anything that gets flagged. And I recently used a keygen that never got flagged as bad.

However, this isn't a keygen, it's a setup.exe it's about 43mb size. It's apparently an H2o crack ...

I definitely wouldn't do it but I'm no computer geek either so maybe some of those guys will chime in.

Well...some are definitely false positives....some are definitely trojans and some are neither.....You have to make sure your source is trusted. Make sure it's an authentic scene release and not someone that just put the teams name on there....

That's what I was sceptical about!!!

To be honest, I can't wait 'til I get the funds to start putting together some legit shit.

I just need to decide on a DAW to roll with, and a few main synths/vsts.
