Tips, Techniques and Suggestions?

Hey guys,
ive been producing shit for about almost a year now and each time i make a beat, its progressively better then the last but im never satisfied with any of my beats. my main problem is that that i tend to create a bunch of different loops and different instrumentations over my drums and bassline bbut not all of them flow with the beats. i also tend to clutter my beats with alot. is there a basic formula or any techniques to help me keep my beats simple, tight and not cluttered? any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

not really fam everyone operates different try to sampling this way u can flow wit the sample all u wanna do is add ur baseline n drums

Here's a suggestion...pick any song that you like that isn't very complicated and mimic it with your own beats and instruments. Dont copy it, be sure to be orignal but slightly change everything with your touch on it. i.e. if the song has strings - use keys in your beat and so on...

Im trying to produce some west coast, weed tokin hip hop and im using reason 3.0

Listen to "the chronic" and try and emulate then...Or any 90's Cube

alrite tru enuff thanks for reply. i got another question now. can anyone tell me wat kind of synths are used on dres shit and alotta that west coast stuff. where can i getem?

On reason 3.0 theres a few sounds you can use to replicate earlier westcoast stuff.

Off the top juss like that

Sub - hip hop lead ( mono synth ) synth bass ( Bass)

NN19 - You got a bunch in there go check out synth and keyboards there a bunhc in there that cuold suit the westcoast. even synth Raw elements you can pop one in and tweak it.
