The mental stimulation is in the ipads and android touch devices, everyone is stuck in there devices, no one really has much time for music anymore.
For real. Music was a form of entertainment. You would buy an album and listen to the whole fucking thing for an hour. You'd look at the album art and all that shit.
Now it's not even close to that. It's all about the next hit single on iTunes. Plus the "album" should be reconfigured to be a more digitally immersive experience. They continue to try shit with this, but fail.
Look, music is like all other content these days:
1.
Comic strips:
- Back in the day: You get your comic strip in the newspaper... BOOM you make money because you're syndicated.
- Now: Try and make a fucking living off webcomics. Right, that ain't happening.
2. Writing/News:
- Back in the day: You would sit down and read the paper. You'd read articles that were well written and crafted by someone with an ounce of fucking knowledge.
- Now: Every article or blog post is like 300 words wrong, written for the lowest common denominator and is always "10 Things..." or "5 Weird Ways..." or some other stupid dumb shit. It's like the internet is full of shit.
3. Film/Moving Pictures
- Back in the day: Movies were pretty good, you had independent films that reached a wide audience, like Reservoir Dogs or some shit.
- Now: Everything is a fucking sequel, remake or some Marvel comic bullshit.
4. Music
- Back in the day: We would get ripped off in buying an album because we just wanted one or two songs. Conversely, the albums that were actually good had a solid tracklist.
- Now: I don't even want to think about it. It's so tough being an artist or producer unless you're at the top level. But you have more options to get your music heard if you grind hard enough. Conversely, you need to survive, so who's going to keep you going when you have a 9 to 5.
Shit.
