OK, has anyone read this book?? I've heard lots of great things about the book and am very tempted to pick up a copy and read it, or at least buy it off iTunes and have some old dude read it to me lol....

I think I know the basic story. Basically DaVinci was a part of some form of Illuminati, and was actually a decendant of Jesus. I heard something about Jesus marrying Mary Magledin (not sure how to spell it, but the prosititue Jesus saved) and having several children, which all held the secrets to ancient history or something. And aparently DaVinci wasa decendant of Jesus?? Maybe I'm way off.....But yeah, so who's read it and what did you think??

Ya I read it when it first came out and it's really good. It's like an adventure / thriller and you can't put it down till you finish it.

Close, Davinci was part of the secret illuminati group called the priori of scieon that protected the secret of the lineage of Christ. Interesting topic, but Dan Brown is a low rate writer with interesting material. The characters are 1 dimensional and the plot usually hits you in the forehead, but like I said it is interesting.

It's material that has intrigued the hell out of me for years now, but Schwaz was right. The way the story is written is more of an Indiana Jones meets Jeeves the museum curator following some of the most unlikely events imaginable, intertwined with some of the most interesting topics. Had this story been written MINUS the historical content it contained, it would have been just an average novel. Same thing with "Angels and Demons". The subject matter ALONE has costed me countless hours of sleep, due in part to research and thought.

point blank.... the novels are a fictional adaptation of suspicions and possible truths that have hung in the air for 2000 + years... The fictitious part of the story is decent, but could be better. the historical accuracy of the novels are unbelievably researched and well written.


You want to read on some similar shocking information? Read about the Medici family.... the ORIGINAL Original Gangstas.... forget about the government or the Church. This family was pulling game back in the Boticelli days... essentially a crime family, they got 3... count em... THREE of their family members to be POPES!!!

THREE POPES CAME FROM AN ITALIAN FAMILY OF UNIMAGINABLE INFLUENCE, WEALTH, AND POWER.... interesting.....

its really important to understand that it is FICTIONAL. to many or tempted to take many of the things mentioned as facts. but if you like that sort of stuff its all good.

I'm halfway thru it myself. GET IT! It's a must read. Basically, instead of the Illuminati it's the Opus Dei. It's all very twisted and it's still a little confusin while you read but it's definitly good. The more you read the more you understand. I like it alot.

Aside form the book, some believed that Jesus and Mary Magdeline did in fact marry and have children. This is the Opus Dei belief. A real religeous group that exists. Where the book comes in is that Da Vinci was part od Opus Dei and had put clues in his work hinting to his beliefs. Which is also part of real-life belief.

that link is interesting....but let's be honest, unless some huge new evidence comes out, i dont think anyone will be able to prove for or against any of the topics the davinci code covers....the informations is too old, and as time goes by, chains can often break....by that i mean, when 2 thousand years have gone by, its quite easy for storys and information to be altered, or skewed. Regardless, this whole story seems very interesting

well...

well even for the bible we got lots and lots of documentation like the scrolls of the dead sea dating from 100 BC and considering that the ''facts'' from the davinci code dont evn come close to that....

even books on socrates are taken as fact and are not even as verified as th bible.


but back to da vinci code. I havent read the books, just reviews and facts from places i trust so i would be a hypocrite to say i really know what im talking about. i'll start by reading it as just another thriller and see how it feels D

well, you gave a basic summary of what i was about to say, and then i check out that site and that pretty much gives the same things i was about to say.

now, my only response is this:

NO MATTER WHAT, there will always be something abuot EVERYTHING- be it the bible, the da vinci code book, the illuminati, the whole free mason thing, hell even your girl. no matter how much "evidence" someone has, scientific or otherwise, everything has secrets that we will never know.

thus, it takes just as much faith to believe in the da vinci code as it does to believe in the bible- regardless of someones "research". as far as "historical fact" in anything, let us not forget that much of this depends on who is telling the tale, who is giving the message, who wrote the book, what their own motives were, etc.

it all comes down to... gasp.. faith.

thats it; i dont care what info someone gathered, how "accurate" is, it all takes a measure of faith to believe in because we werent there. end of story for me anyways..
