lol if you don't think that oil companies and the auto industry will destroy the earth rather than switch to clean renewable energy, you've got another thing coming.

Big business doesn't give a fuck about anything other than the bottom line. The bottom line comes before all, including the human race.

The irony, of course, is that if they take a hit now by developing a renewable energy source and modifying their vehicles to use it, they'll continue to profit for much longer than they will currently.

But who cares, nothing bad will happen in our lifetime... RIGHT?

Exactly. The infrastructure now is setup for oil. A sudden change in this would throw things out of balance. Hybrid cars are not necessarily good, as the production cost (both monetary and environmentally) are quite significant, and not many people take that into account. The mining for the metals, transportation the change in the production factories, etc... Not to mention that mechanics and other support workers will have to learn to adapt to the new technologies. It's not a simple thing, it will take YEARS to make the transition.

where the first is the energy we put in and the second is what we get out.

hmm. but for some reason i do believe there are some ways to generate "free energy".
one guy had a theory about using natural magnets in motors and that his design generates a ridiculous amount of energy. i guess i would have to take a look at it, but considering that natural magnets eventually exhaust, it's not a renewable source, but for the time being it IS "free energy" for us.

and that john hutchinson guy seems pretty fucked. duno whether to half-believe that or not.

there are too many stories of people's work getting confiscated, people getting jailed and murdered for being involved in ways of generating energy as an alternative to oil.
