@thedreampolice beat idea is nice but i think you sould change the synth. melodys are nice. drums sounds clean. like something clubish. 0:32 i feel the synth melody. 1.50 nice arp man. i love the melody. you got some skills man. keep up the great work. would be nice if you return the favour man.! http://www.soundclick.com/hdproduction and even a view on this would be so super nice! http://www.youtube.com/user/MrHDProd

@Just Ripe, I like them. I do have a hard time with a song using a princess bride sample and not just laughing my ass of ha ha.

Rugged and Rainy Day are the strong tracks here. They are both nice, and you can just vibe to. I can hear a nice emcee on both of these, Rainy does seem like its missing something, but I cant put my finger on it. Maybe something in the bass line is off, hmmm. At any rate I have always liked your stuff keep it up!

@HD Productions
I may not be the best person to ask on your stuff as I really don't get in to that style, not that it isnt good. It is just not my cup of tea. I am more in to sampled based stuff or, at least real instruments. Where most dirty south does not sound real at all. I like Wild West Swagger, I feel the arrangement needs a little more, maybe more movement? Just automating the volume on a few things will keep in interesting. Miss me is interesting, I would say that for the very nice piano riff you have going, maybe make the drums more realistic.

Overall, you certainly are talented, I would work on more drum layering, and learn to design your own synth sounds. I can hear a bunch of presets in your work. But man good stuff, no doubt!

DP, that video game joint sounds mad 8bit but high quality at the same time..I can definitely hear that in a game.....I think maybe a tiny bit down on the arp around 1:00, kinda too overpowering.

Jus - I already hit you up on the FB about those joints...them shits are tough...Diggin the sound on that....

HD - I like the joints you have, but your beats are lacking low end bass...that TI joint is screaming for bass...a hard bassline that rumbles would be perfect. The wild west is pretty good as well....Got that south style mastered, looks like....

@ thedreampolice sounds like it would go good with some kind of action game, i liked it.
@ JustRipe that rugged loops joint was sick man, definitely got the wu vibe down.
@ Sucio i really liked turn that white into beige, M.O.E.went hard, and A.N.M.H.E. was real smooth.
Alright I started doing this around the beginning of October so im kinda new to it. Any advice would be much appreciated!

this one has some weird squeeky sounds once i uploaded it to soundcloud, but it wasn't there in fl studio, so idk what to do bout that.

You're building a good foundation. Once you get away from those stock sounds you should be well on your way to doing descent production. Try to get more melodic with your chops. Right now you're just doing what ever with them. Think "new melody" when you're chopping segments of the sample that were part of the melody in the first place. To flip it you rearrange the melody to come up with something new but it should still be melodic in nature. U still have to follow the rules of chord progression. Find you a circle of fifths, learn it. Post it up where u can see it each and every time you're trying to come up with a melody follow it. You can even get an analyzer where you can SEE the chord progression or notes. They can always be rearranged or transposed to diff't octaves to make a new melody. I like most of your drums so you should only be honing those. Good job for just starting out!

@ LDB thanks for taking the time to listen and critique. I see what your saying about following chord progression, I was just doing whatever with the chops like you said. I will take your advice about the circle of fifths and try to learn more about chord progression, thank you

I agree with LDB on that...

The Aalon Sampled beat is a nice sample. I think your drum sequencing is all over the place...it's hard to get that flow/vibe with it... the sample has that sound where you should just be riding to the beat..

I think "another day" needs some more instruments behind it or something......and definitely step up your sounds...

@ LDB dam LDB what u said is exactly how i was, id chop and just fill em in to make a full beat instead of think ahead while chopping to actually "flip" the sample. now i flip that shit in my head before i even got the sample on my program haha. good ass advice i woulda ate that up a year ago lol

@ HP- u already know iwhat i think on them..
@ Sucio-bad case of mondays- i dont like the kinda drums just u know im about boom bap haha, but dam goooooood ass sounds no lie like fresh as hell. the pianos are just like the ultimate melody enhancer on this haha.
fell in love at the club- completely oppist of the kinda music i like, i actually hate it, but quality wise from a producer stand point, very good mix, deffinately got the club feeling.
@ LP-anotherday- dope levels on the bass and drums, go pretty good together i like the sample too, but yeah man deffinately gotta work on filling in that "bare-ness" with somethin, u could even clone ur sample and just bandpass it and throw it up in there to spruce it up, not bad though i like where ur goin..
Always- dope ass samples and i f u had that extra fill in where it gets too bare it would be a very dope beat i love the horn chop haha.
Together- haha ive flipped this plenty of times, the drums pattern is super ILL i like it alot, but the transition from intro to beats was lacking a build up of sorts, but still i can vibe to this one probably the most out of any.
Aalon Sampled Beat-the kick could probably be a little deeper of a pitch or filtering or something, also this beat seemed very empty, lots of room for more sounds or something to just give it that oooomph

@ Sucio and JustRipe, thanks for the input guys. I will work on it. I know what you mean about them sounding bare, i just feel like if i add more instruments to it they will feel overcrowded, so in turn i dont add enough lol but i will work on it. I appreciate all the feedback!

exactly why you should experiment with filters, u can get that full sound and keep the main samples you want as the main melody becuase with some filtered samples u can make it as prominent as u want with a little practice, so the filtered samples are more of a "filler" as i like to call it instead of an overcrowded bunch of sounds on your beat lol.

dp: sounds like a club/house beat i would hear at the Palladium in NYC... it needs a few more sounds... nothin major.. prolly some hi-hats... good beat.

JustRipe: i think u should work on ur drum patterns, and ur drum sounds as well... the melodies are cool, but the sounds and patterns of the drums are too "known".

HD Pro: there's too much here to be critiquin! give me titles.. lol wtf

Sucio: read above post... i do like OTR tho.. :)

LP*: LDB is correct... ur chops are usable, but they seem all over the place... ur drum patterns will improve... i like "Aalon" the best...
