greetings fellow music production enthusiasts
i'll start off w/ a little about myself
come from a real musical family. my pops(guitarist, drummer singer) taught me how to play drums at a real young age, like 3 or so. id say I'm pretty eclectic... grew up listening and playing along with classic rock and alt. sisters were in h/s in the 90s so fell in love with r&b hip hop. fell in love with all music in general. self taught guitar, youtube taught beat maker, haha
fast forward a little
one of my homies sent me a cracked version of FL studio back in like 04 so that was my first taste in creating my own beats and whatnot
used to listen to damu the fudgemonk on myspace back in the day. always wanted an MPC but didn't have the funds to support my interests
fast forward again
so the year is 2012 and at the time, I'm making decent money to get the mpc I've always dreamed of.
me being a young (dumb) gambler, i went to the local casino with a bill ($100) and hopped on the roulette table and i put a quarter ($25) on my 4 numbers and ended up hitting (if i remember correctly, it was #7). it was about $900. i tipped the dealer, cashed out, got in the whip and went straight to guitar center. i told one of my dj homies that i was planning on getting a mpc but he suggested a machine. saw some youtube videos of jeremy ellis on youtube getting down on the machine mikro and i was sold. so yeah, ended up copping a ni maschine mk1 with my roulette winnings and the rest is pretty much is history. hah
it took me a couple years before i could convert my loops into mp3s. i was real intimidated when i finally figured out sampling, and even till this day i still feel intimidated with my mk1.
made a few beats for homies i play basketball with and they spit on it. nothing spectacular haha. not trying to get big or anything, just want to make music
so lately i been seeking inspiration for my craft and i figured a forum/community would be pretty helpful... so here i am. i plan on learning, improving, and networking on here. now i gotta figure out how to showcase some of my beats, and take the constructive criticism. never really got any when it comes to my beats so give it to me straight.
alright i think thats enough about me
thanks and God Bless,
chrisg
