Recording in cool edit pro

I tryed recording in it yesterday for the first time i had the beat
loaded up then hit record and you could see the waves going over
top of the beat but then i played it back and there were just vocals
whats up with that ?

if you could see the vocals going over the beat..this means you recorded over the beat! you have to record on a different track, not the same one as the beat..

every track that you recorded will play back while you are recording a new track, even the beat.

cool now i learned i can't make any beat until i get upgraded
higher then windows 98 damn ratium will not work.

you gotta go to the multi track side of cep. there, use each track for each wave file you have. ex. track 1 will be for your beat. track 2 for vocals and so on. if you have track 1 for your beat and vocals, when you record, the vocals will erase the beat.
