"Record What You Hear" Software

Peace Ya'll,

Just thought I'd see if anyone knows any good software which records anything that is playing on the PC, e.g, from the internet or from CD/DVD?

I have used a few over the years, but I'd like something thats decent. (I know I can record into my MPC, but I dont want to do that right now).

Willing to pay upto $30-40 if its not a free software.

Obviously, it will need to record to high quality .wav format!

soundforge thru a mixer. even without sometimes.

this is totally dependent on your soundcard. If your soundcard doesn't support recording streaming audio, no software will work.

the only one I know that installs as a virtual interface is vritual audio cable and it's crap lol.

I got a soundblaster xfi go just for this purpose, had a tascam u122 joint that couldn't do it, and many pro or prosumer level sound cards don't support it.

but soundblaster does. I use it for my videos...to record the audio direct.

it works going into reaper or audacity
