I want to use my Evolution mk-425C midi keyboard (which has no midi imputs and one midi output) to access the refills and use as a midi controller on my the mpc. I think that I might need to have both midi input and output on the keyboard from what I read in the manual but then again the manual is not explaining how to connect to reason ect... please help

MIDI out from the controller to MIDI in of the MPC

MIDI out from the MPC to MIDI in of your soundcard(to acess refills)

Set ur refill software to multitimbral mode and u will be able to have 16 instraments(1 for each midi channel) controlled from ur mpc triggerd by ur midi controller. ITs the same exact thing im doing with my soundmodules, just replace my racks wit ur computer.

hey Class, I bought the midi cable and connected everything correctly but I am still playing the programs in the mpc instead of the synths in reason. I searched on reason (index) and the internet for this multitimbral mode. In reason, the word "multitimbral" is not in the help->index and in internet searches the only thing I come up with is that NNXT is a multitimbral synth. There is no infomation of how to go into multitimbral mode.

I am also told that I must set my midi keyboard to "local control: off" I have homework i gotta do now or i'd continue to research.. but while i get that done if you (Class) or anyone else has any idea of what my problem is then let me know, thanks.

Your gotta swithc the MPC program from DRUM to MIDI for the track that u want to use the reason sounds. THis tells the MPC NOT to play the internal sounds but just send midi signals. which meansyour only using MIDI notes and not triggering internal sounds on the mpc, if u watch my video tutorial on my website i talk about that. YOu need to set reason up so it can recive all 16 midi channels from the mpc (so u can use 16 differnt instraments) there are plenty of tutorials on www.mpc-forums.com

the only time u need to turn your keyboard local control off is if u have sounds that you want to use on their. If ur just using it as a controller u wont have to worry bout that.

I went to your site but I think I need a plug-in (Class).. I clicked on video and a window opened and then closed reeal quick. I did what you said, least i think, and I can play and record the refills in reason on the sequencer on the mpc. Only problem is that the beat i'm working on is coming from my headphones and the samples from reason are on my computer speakers. The mpc is recording the midi input and I can most likely save the project an play it later.. but the mpc an refills will be on seperate speakers. I'm posting this instead of looking further because I might have fixed my issue and the reason why i'm getting this situation is because i'm using headphones. I was expecting to hear all the sounds in my headphones though. I'm registered at the mpc forums and have used their search engine, which is either not that good or no one has posted anything concerning reason. I know at this point i'm a straight up newbie but your help is greatly appreciated, i come here as a last resource after searching.. some reason there is very very little on this subject on the net.
edit
I do not have the mpc's output going to my computer or mixer, i'm only using headphones right now.

See i knew u were gonna ask this lol
now u have to route your audio correctly. You will need to route the audio from ur mpc and the audio from reason to the same source. So u can hear both at the same time. Most people use a mixer for this but if u got enought ins and outs you can use your soundcard..
