Reason - How the hell do you do it??

When I load up music programs, or programs in general really, I can normally work out how to use them....

Reason I have no idea what I'm doing at any time! I can pretty much load up a .REX, and play the sample (with pauses between each sample, might I add ) and have no idea how to do anything else...

Does everybody have this problem, or have I smoked myself retarded?

man go check some tutorials at youtube...how long have u been using reason? it takes some time to get used to it. took me a week or two.

Read the instructions manual. Generally people don't read instructions manuals
(including me), but i was so excited to get reason 2.5 a few years back that i Read it. It actually does a great job of explainin shit, and isn't long of a read.

Hey thanks, its just that I've been browsing Producing forums for ages now, and when newbies ask whats good and easy to use people mention Reason. I just thought it might just be me having trouble!

Watching videos is a huge help. I've been using Reason for a year now and have gotten very good at it but I'm still discovering new techniques and the rack setup and wiring along with combinators are so intuitive you can get really creative with them.

Trust me playa your going at a good start, dr.rex was my steping stone with reason as well. the best thing to do with the program is to just F@#k Around wit it, try everything. dont even try to make a hot track or anything learn your tool and hone your skills into it,

Your not retarted, Im a hardware person I have reason, I look at it and click shit and nothin ever comes out...
Thus I fucks with it not....

Maybe due to the fact that I recently discovered I dont have a soundcard, just the digidesign hardware lol.

the whole thing with reason (especially if you are completely new to production like i was) is that in the beginning there is an absolute wall. my first track was just a digeridoo sound for 3 minutes straight. (on that ambient tip). after i figured out the basics through a little research and manual reading, my learning of the program increased exponentially.
