re-using sounds

do u guys re-use the same sounds again and again or do u change sounds every so often to keep shit moving.

i try to keep changing up sounds over time so shit dont end up sounding the same all the time.

how about u dudes with keyboards that dont sample? dont u get fed up of the same sounds or tweaking the same sounds?

Yeah I don;t see how people don;t sample at all. I was comparing my beats to this guy and the few people were feeling me more, but he kept saying, I don't sample yo! That all he was saying. He was using a Phantom he said.Not knocking anybody. But it makes me laugh when people say, I don't sample, Even if your not sampling a phrase or section , no sampled sounds limits you to just whats in the keyboard, thats wack to me with all these beautiful sound out there,. That means any sound you got somebody can get that exact same sound as you if they got a keyboard like you. Then what really trips me out is they don't realize that if the sound is not played from the actual instrument, its a sample anyway. Unless you got a harp or a violin ecetra, you are really sampling in a sense. But of course it more work if you do more than just play drums over a looped melody or something. Which I do some times, But sometime I play the melody myself, but if its not form the guitar or the piano and its form the triton or moog , then thats still a sample in my book.

man i use alot of da same sounds but theyre tweaked every so often. i get live instruments recorded 2 den i add wierd effects on em in cool edit. yo soundboy, u made a very good point bout how sum peeps who dnt sample go on, i must admit ive been dat way 2.

I reuse old sounds, I resample old (original sounds) I think a lot of people say they don't sample because they like to separate themselves from heavy vinyl sampling not to confuse it with a plain old one shots from somewhere or off your keyboard..... resampling a riff that they came up with is some hot shidd to do if you have ideas and melodies in your head you can play....it's a pride thing because if you sample a riff off of vinyl that you didn't create all you can kind of take credit for is the idea of how you would implement it in your track not any sort of musical contribution....but if you played it and resample a riff that's really musical creativity along with the abilty to implement in a sequence...I also go through multitracks of old songs that I made and then resample and reshape the sounds or use the same one with different fx...

theres always new ways top freak yoour sounds..if u got a good wave editor,samppler or plugins, and know how to use em right its hard to run out............i defintly feel big d staemnt about using old songs that u already created..most of the beats i make are just my old beats with reshaped and reproccesed sounds. just take somethin u already made and flip it diffrent....i sample myself..lol

yeah ive come accross cats that say "i dont sample yo" im like so what? if play the same 4 note progression on your keyboard for every track and its wack ur better off sampling.

people think they hella creative "saying my shits all original" but if it sounds crap what good is it?

Alot of people dont sample. I try not to sample as much as possible, if you know how to work your equiptment you have unlimited sounds with synths. You would have no need to sample anything. Thats how you get creative. IF you buy a triton and are just using pre sets all day then yeah ok, but if you really know how to work shit you'll never have to sample again. Unless you want to.

I don't sample music I sample drum sounds from classic songs and records.(Old and New)(NOT LOOPS!!!! sounds like a kick, snare, clap, hats, etc.) but I play my own melodies. Thats where you get your creativity from. Sampling melodies is easy. Theres really no work besides digging and looking for one you like. But that has nothing to do with being musically creative...... yeah there is some creative process in cutting up the sample but thats taking someone elses ideas and making them your own. Why don't you listen to the piece you want to sample and play something that was inspired by it. Its more you, its more original and you don't have to pay royalties. I'm not hating on sampling but I think more professionals don't sample. They get inspired by songs and sounds they like and make it there own. I want to make shit that you want to sample..... the only way I can do that is make something original.

I loop a melody and drums together sometimes, may sprinkle it with a few sounds or something, as long as it's dope I don't care. But I don;t poke my chest out like I just created a masterpiece, I consider those beats remixes more than anything. Sometimes I sample a sound and map in across the keyboard with different picthes and play the melody myself with the sound. I use to not consider that sampling. An assiocate, who plays the hell out of guitar and a little piano, He makes beats with all live instrument , was like that s sampling. So , I was like, "oh okay, I sample then". He makes like 1 beat every two weeks or so.

I really haven't strecthed my triton to it limits yet,

I doubt there are still many producers who sample entire drum loops nowadays... (hm ...like salaam remy on the last Nas' album) but I hear you this thing is really passé
