I agree..fuck this corny shit.I don't mean to shit on this, but I'm just not into this.
His first album Infinite was super underground so of course it was dope, and Slim Shady plus Marshall Mathers was really dope.
Once he came out with the Eminem Show I couldn't fuck with him anymore. It was just super fast BPMs with goofy lyrics. What's that song? NA NA NA NANA NANANAAANANANANAA. I really hated that song.
Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers albums were dope because he had great wordplay but it was a solid production, still somewhat raw. When he came out with Lose Yourself that was insanely good, and it's too bad he didn't continue down that path. Once he got huge then he just became Eminem the funny wordplay rapper guy. I guess the industry led him down the infamous money path.
Sorry, it's just my 2 cents. Rant over.
My sentiments entirelyI agree..fuck this corny shit.
Em is at a stage that no matter what shit he puts out, his fanboys will lap it up regardless. I personally have to look at myself in the mirror. It's interesting when you look at music careers like this. Let's say Eminem was still the same from 1998 - then people would be saying he needs to change with the times and he's washed up. I would agree with that, but with his career, as @hosie mentioned, it's Pop now. He crossed over to the Pop side a long time ago. That's cool, and he's gotten tons of fame and money because of that, but what if? WHAT IF?
We all know he can do some hardcore stuff with a slowed down tempo, so it would great if he did that more often. On the other hand, you look at someone like KRS-One who's still doing music and it's still hardcore but he obviously doesn't have the fame and money like Eminem has. Imagine KRS rapping over a beat like this.
"fanboys" is the right word. Same thing for Beyonce, Taylor Swift, etc. I mean, to each his own but what happened? I find for lots of genres there's so much music that is below average and yet everyone thinks every song is amazing. I think of the days when a rapper would be clowned for using written raps in a freestyle battle, now they recite lyrics without any music to flow to and freestyle battles today are considered amazing.Em is at a stage that no matter what shit he puts out, his fanboys will lap it up regardless. I personally have to look at myself in the mirror.
Comical and corny as fuck are two different things manThe thing with Em it's pop but still not typical pop, it's more pop because it's popular as opposed to pop natured - his content isn't exactly pop friendly.
On recent albums where he's had a completely commercial style of beat and singers n whatever, that shit was dead imho and that was pop. Like those Macklmkre and Professor zgreen or whoever shit.
His music has often had a comical element to it. And I wouldn't call something pop because it's comical. But that's his brand of single/commercial, and it's not exactly sweet.
I don't buy into the whole no you have to have a really shit beat and really boring track and completely uninspiring arrangement otherwise it's not real.
Underground hip hop is corny.Comical and corny as fuck are two different things man
Here we are talking about Eminem and dude disses a whole subgenre of hip hop lol. Bit defensive, you aren't a fucking fanboy are you?Underground hip hop is corny.
I'd call this single above goofy. I'd call shit with Rihanna in the chorus or whatever song it is he has as corny.
