Hello everyone,

I have my basic homestudio: (Is my homestudio good enough ?? or do i need something ??)

* Mbox mini black + Pro tools v. 8.0+
* M-Audio Oxygen 49
* Rode NT1-A + shockmount & pop filter

I was going to buy some pads for my equips, i saw different stuff

* Akai MPD 26

OR

* Korg PadKontrol

Which one u think will suit my Mbox best ? or which will be better in general ??

the pads THEMSELVES are better on the MPD series, being the actual MPC pads

BUT Akai dropped the ball on the spacing between the pads and the sensors. While the PK is spaced right, making them more sensitive.

If you don't mind doing some modification then I'd say go with any MPD.

If you aren't comfortable with open that sucka open and technically voiding your warranty (they won't be able to tell you opened it) then go with the PK.

If you have the money get both. lol

BTW, if you're curious about the modding. Shoot to MPC Stuff's website -- They include videos about some of their products.

The actual rubber pads, the pads only are the same.
The sensitivity is just worse on the MPD series.

I've heard people swear up and down its not the same as well though. I think they might be used to the way their pads (on their MPC) feels now, after years of use vs a brand new pads.

I still love my MPD24 tho.
Something I do like about the PK pads is how thick they are.

EDIT: As far as sensitivity goes. I'm happy with my MPD24, the way it is now allows me to get those subtle differences in my drumming, where as with the mod it would be too sensitive and make my drums lack that humanized tone when the velocity range is so small.
