I was playin some of my records on the PT01 that i just got. And theres this one record that hasa couple different groups on it. Ive had this record for about a year and a half. It has the song that 50 sampled for "50 Bars" on Guess Whoz Back. And also the sample for my "eleanor" beat. But i was listenin through it, and i got to one song. And im goin damn this shit sounds familiar, then the guitar drops. Its "In a Gadda da Vida". The one that was used for Nas's "Thiefs Theme". I fuckin flipped. Ive had this record before that track came out and io coulda made that beat. Im real fuckin pissed at myself. I got nobody to blame. That was one of the only tracks i skipped over, and i dont skip over a track very much.

Anybody had this happen before?

MY ADVICE:
Make sure you atleast preview all tracks on your records before you put it back into the crate.

I know Thiefs Theme aint a real complex beat, but its one of my fave beats. Its just raw. Its my kinda shit and i fucked up. You probly might not think much of it, but this shit is killin me.

DAMN-FUCK-SHITTT!!!!

My beat partner and I haven't tried not listening to a whole record and then later finding a sample we should have used, but have sampled lots of stuff that is then later used on a US release, which is annoying in the sense that we should have been the producers of that track, but good in the sense that we know we pick the right ones.

I know that there would be nothin i couldve done if i wouldve already had the beat out, then somebody (i think it was Salaam Remi who produced Thiefs Theme) famous put that shit out. I cant get pissed at THEM. They never even hearda me and dont give a fuck if i used it first.

But part of doin it first would kinda be for myself, cuz i know in my brain that i really did do that shit first.

Second, cuz of wut Cope said. About it lets you know your not crazy, aka your "pick(in) the right ones".

I've sorta had the same thing happen....well not really.....I made a beat with the sample from "Not Your Average Joe" by Joe Budden, Fat Joe, and Joe. the sample is Ain't Nobody by Chaka Kahn....I started on my version, layed down the samples and added some drum's, but i hadn't finished making the full track yet, and then i heard Not Your Average Joe, so i stopped makin the track halfway through.....Kinda annoying, but oh well....its only one track of MANY....gotta move on

Werd I had dat same idea about that bang bang joint. I picked up dat killbill soundtrack on da advice of a friend. I never made da beat tho.

I recently went to see pete rock @ S.O B's in manhattan and he made a beat for a artist named crumb snatcha usin dat sample. That was the 1st time I heard it that night. But I don't think its a new song of his. The beat was hard
I mean neck snappin hard. And he fliped the sample the same way I wouldhave . I garuntee u tho he didn't get da sample from killbill. He probably had da original record for a loooooong time.

i had wantedto do aerosmith's "sing for the moment" for sometime, but i decided to wait till i had better equipment to work with and didnt touch it.

i dont sample anymore anyways, but that died the second i heard eminems version. i was not to eager to do it after that.

Listening to classical CDs, I want to try and train myself to listen to the majority of the track..i usually just skip around to certain parts.....i also know that the parts i'm skippin', may be samples, lol...how can i overcome that?
