Older songs

Does anyone know if most older songs get remastered before being played on the radio. I don't get how they can be damn near the same quality as new recordings?

Some older tracks are remastered, it really depends on the source they're coming from. Another thing is - most radio stations run compressors as well, they have the same problem as we do when it comes to different tracks having different volumes.

I would luv to know what compressor/s WBLS in NY run, whatever it is, it's setup right and sounds damn good.
