I'm @Iron Keys thinking old school acts w/a modern sound that isn't Trap unless I'm wrong. I feel if you were active in the Golden Era but you somehow ain't stubborn in your approach e.g. you don't sound as if you lost touch, you qualify as modern to me.

you know what's weird actually, after i asked this (and completely unrelated), was listening to some tracks i considered making a spotify playlist for and name it like "modern hip-hop" but to mean, stuff that sounds modern that isn't trap/mumble etc. ha
