I agree with this guy.
From my experience giving beats for free is never a good thing. When you spend time to set up a website, making beats, uploading beats and so on, you have to keep in mind that you run a business. It probably make more time to get new client who pay for a beat than getting traffic because you give stuff for free but at the en of the day : you gonna have a better network when you know you got emails from people who pay for beat. By sending newsletter to the right people, doing discounts and all these stuff.
People who come for free beats on your website will NEVER buy! They browse the internet to see who do free beat or...$1 beats ! Usually they don't really do stuff with these, they are bedroom singers/rappers. Someone who pay for beat has a project in mind he/she wants to sell and gonna also credit you.
Don't you think it's weird that people accept to pay for recording studios but are beggin for free beats ? Because they know there is no way to get in the studio for free!
Imagine someone entering to an Apple store asking : do you have a computer for free?
No! They know they gonna have to spend a lot of money for a McBook Pro and believe me : when it's quality, you ALWAYS find someone to buy your stuff. ALWAYS!
I prefer make it straight : you gonna have to pay when you go to our website. This is a business. Of course we do discount and everything, we give coupons to our clients. But they have to understan we spend time doing this...FOR THEM!
Our goal is to make dope tracks and we want them to make dope songs! But it's our job , we have bills, we ain't gonna do this for free.
I'm gonna finish by this. When we used to give beats for free, people started to complain because we didn't give ENOUGH beats for free! Or they asked us to remove tags and would probably not credit us anywhere.
There is enough producers who give free beats on the internet, we are just looking for another type of clientele!
