Oke, there were rumours that the Triton series would be discontinued...

Not true according to Korg USA so this synth that is coming out wont be replacing the Triton studio. It's something completly different and is to be released on the 20th this month.

Here's a teaser

There's been a lot of speculations around...

As you can see, there's a huge ass color touch screen, very convenient. DVD-RW drive, 8 rotary encoders and 8 sliders, standard and vector joystick ( may all probably lighten up ). Harddisk recording, streaming internal as from external HD's, the advanced triton studio if you may call it like that. Multiple forms of synthesis alike wavetable, rompler and I'm assuming VA aswell in the likes of Acces Virus or closer to Korg, the Prophecy. Perhaps also physical modelling when considering the possibility of running OASYS as OS. Physical modelling is a synthesis specificly made to construct electro-mechanical or acoustic instruments by a heavy dose of algorhytmns, probably preconstructed hehe. Yamaha VL series are quite good at this, pretty expensive too.

The teaser also states OPEN .... which probably indicates to an open architecture meaning you can implement many software utilities on the same engine. There's been one open architecture thusfar by Korg called OASYS ( Open Architecture SYStem ) used on the Prophecy, Trinity, Triton and a win98 PCI board with OASYS software/hardware enabling to create the same quality as the aforementioned models. There has also been a prototype synth called the OASYS in the 90's but has never been released, this new synth seems to be OASYS 2 ready for the new generation audio/midi gear.

Anyway, the new flagship will be expected to drain your wallet...7500 dollars but then you got something...

something for all those non pc loving producers.
