Hey-
You'll love the fact that you bought the 8 out card- no more overdubbing stereo takes!
This was how I used to do it:
MPC outs 1-8 into my mixing board in channels 1-8. Main outs on inputs 9 & 10.
Bus Outputs from my board into the 8 inputs on the computer interface. (Then a MOTU 2408)
1. First, setup each mono sound to be output to a seperate output, or, group similar sounds to the same outputs. (ei: all the kicks on out 1 (1&2 if stereo, everything panned wide), snare on 2, hihats & crashes on 3...)
2. Set compression and EQ for each channel on the mixer. (Make sure you have inputs 9 & 10 muted so you won't be hearing the output of the MPC main outs)
3. Assign each channel to it's own bus on the console.
4. Arm each card input in Cubase.
5. Setup the MIDI sync inside of Cubase. I like the computer to be the master.
6. Press Record and then Play. Stop when finished.
