^^^ it an analog synth, except that the envelopes for VCA and VCO are fixed discretly except for a few parameters like decay etc. You could change some of the resistors, capacitors to alter the sounds on an 808 (although there wont be any need to mod an 808 or 909, a 606 is nice though because you can mod a 606 kick to a 808, or a 606 tom to a 909 kick etc etc etc).

Love them analogs man...

On topic, lots of big studios use Studio Electronics ATC-1(or x) for basslines, not very familiar to the domestic producers. Domestic like producers ( no pun intended here ) do use the motif, tritons etc. Same goes for Moogs, I think by now pretty much all the big n nice studios have at least one Voyager around which serves for pretty much anything synth related(bass, monophonic dre like tunes or bleepy arpy ish).

Other very popular tools are Acces Virus, Nord lead modular3 or G2x, Alesis Andromeda and I've also spotted the Korg MS2000 in a lot of setups.

^^^^just a lil reminise, that's all, but y'all know what I'm saying. That synth has been used and abused... and is still used today. Dont know if there is one that is used more than that one.

True, and that just hiphop, there's also electro, dnb, nu skool breaks, detroit techno, techno, acid, breakcore, hardcore/gabber, hell, even pop and crappy pop from the 90's. And then to think they where intended for use as complex metronomes as a companion for guitarists, often with a 303 aswell.

Before a mod tells you, better if you PM me about this, not to deviate from the subject of the thread...
