Mixer in my set up!!!

OK here is the deal
I see a lot of people have mixer like the Mackie 1402 and such in their setp up.....I can have a good deal on one of those but will it improve my sound in any ways???? Right now i use a Numar Dx1002x dj mixer for my turntable .....What will it improve if anything, what the main difference????

Mixers don't make a big difference untill you start talking about SSL's and shit like that. Million dollar mixing boards. Mackie's are cool but I'd rather spend that money on more sound modules, keyboards, software, outboard gear, etc.

Mixers help you properly separate and then, obviously, mix sounds from different sources.

The 1402 is not a DJ mixer, obviously. If you have different sound sources, coming from different modules or microphones, that outnumber the channels on your mixer, and you wish to have more control over channels not included in your current mixer, the DJ mixer is not the way to go.

It depends on your setup. What is your setup?

Stra i feel you, maybe cuz i have a cheap setup, i got a Gemini pmx-20 mixer (which i hate) i only use it to connect my turntable to my computer, but i guess depending on your setup a different mixer might be needed...im straight for now.

Well, I must say that a digital mixer can make a hell of a difference. Checkout the specs on the Behringer DDX3216. It has built in effects and a world of possibilities without buying a bunch of outboard gear. But some outboard gear can be useful together with the mixer.

Most of the mackie mixers are quiet a little thin but you can always beef it up with a preamp or compressor. The behringer mixers are less expensive and may put a little noise in your setup but they are pretty good, for that matter any mixer can put a little noise in your setup. If you get a better mixer though it will improve the sound quality of your instruments going into your computer via the soundcard if thats how you have it setup. Also a better mixer than what you have may have better preamps for the microphone inputs which is very good for rappers/singers. Also you can have more room to insert different instruments that maybe you didn't have room for on your current mixer. I have a mackie 1202, but I do the mixing in sonar or cubase.
