what synths would you guys recommend that are mix ready. synths whos presets aren't flashy persay but more forgiving for space with other sounds, something that doesnt need alot of processing to fit in.

I dont believe there is one personally...Presets really are just good starting points, at least with synths...The thing that ive been telling people for days with synths is that you have to have the patience to learn how they work and model your own sounds to truly fully utilize what their capable of.

In regards to making sounds meld with others with synths your filters will often be your best friend. Get used to using your LP, BP, HP, filters, etc. Its like EQing anything else in your mix that has unwanted freqs - you just use the filter to get rid of them and make room for other sounds.

Well depending on the synth your using the filtering can occur in the oscillator stage or after, im referring to after since if the filtering occurred in the oscillator stage it would be more of an effect rather then used as a utitlity/EQ.
In regards to softsynths - some can be very CPU hungry and theres not much you do about it aside from maxing out your computer to counter the problem.

Using filters that are built in on a softsynth shouldn't eat up too much of your resources however.

^ lol possibly two of the most expensive newer synths on the market?

My virus B desktop ? its surely was on its release but ive seen it go for 350/400 on the 2nd hand market, the newer vira have more options (effects/interfacing) but essentialy the synth engine is pretty good. Once you put it in single mode and combo it off with vst's fx/uad then you really wouldnt need the newer acces goods.

I know that you are looking for presets that are mix ready but reasons thor is a beast it looks intimidating at first but you call call up some good presets and get them to mix with a few minor tweaks. Also the reason refils called analog monsters are tight too they sound good as presets . Like homey said in an earlier post filer and ex will be your best friend. I'm not in to really using synth too much right now but I have tried to apply them to my shit and got pissed because I couldn't find one that works for me as a preset. Let me know if u find anything. Peace
