I Knew when i asked for it on my Birthday that it may be some shit that questionably iz def not worth 100 bucks - but tha shit iz elabs so its def some of tha highest quality samples you can get - but still i was disapointed in tha amount provided - even though theres plenty to stir up days of creation.
So for future advice - look for other products aside from elab if you want maybe more quantity - which im assuming iz slightly bigger with other brands but not certain. theres just not enough there for 100 bones - i would recomend now after dumping my parents bucks into some shit that just isnt worth that much money - to look into copping your own acoustic drum cdrom instead...that kind of refill will be an invaluable tool for prob. much longer than my hiphop disc - just a thought?

I feel you man, I got the same sample CD too from elab, I rarely use it now, from time to time I pop it in and chop-up some drumloops, it doesn't have bad sounds but as you said for $100 it could have been more. Try banginbeats.com you can get sound kits for as low as $9.99. I don't work for them by the way, I just tried them out today and waiting for my stuff to be shipped out! Other peeps to try are big fish audio and ilio for sample cd's although they are even more expensive than elab.

Bigfish seems to be just loops, which isn't that interesting. Banginbeats are good, I've got approx. 30 kits from them...The refills called Hip-Hop something aren't always necessarily any good...most of the time it's stereotyped 80's-90's hip-hop sounds and loops, or they are made by some old rock artist who knows jack about Hip-Hop. Some of my most used sounds are from other refills than these kind...

Ive heard some refills that your talking about cope...tha ones where its obviuosly done by some jerk that knows squat about tha sounds...those def. do suck.
Ive found that a acoustic drum kit disc is always a good choice if its good quality though(being made by some retired rocker) - for simple yet powerfully effective drum kits that is.

how many drum wavs do you literally get from banginbeats for 10 bucks anyways, since everybodies talkin about that site?

Depends Deuce, some contain 25 sounds others contain up to 40 or so...but generally you can expect about 30 sounds, good sounds though, nice drums...

I mainly get drums when I'm looking to buy sampled sounds, but banginbeats has sound good classic drum sounds, you definetly don't want to use them as is, change em up chop here or there add to it. I've never purchased any sample CDs and been totally satisfied, I'm better at making my own samples most of the time or getting them from out my keyboard.

Oh by the way check out modernbeats.com they just started which is a spinoff of mpcsounds.com. They are popular but I'm not sure about the sounds yet. They offer sound kits for all major sampler formats hardware and software based.

Wo!....I almost forgot about this thread!

Hey

I figure as long as theres a ton of good sounding - nicely mic'ed sounds, All being drums Hopefully - since i sample everything else myself, then im in business......Acoustics are always dope! But without a doubt - i dont think it matters what refill/soundpack it iz - you still will always have to change/manipulate your cuts to make em sound nice......Better samples jus make a better starting point.

um.... i just got 20 sample cd's that NO sound module i have worked with can touch...because they are REAL sounds. garritan orchestral strings and Brass Super Section, Vintage Time Traveler, Advanced Orchestra and Ultimate Piano...... i have had the motif rack, xp 80 and 30, triton le, tr rack, and proteus 2000 within the last year and i have a top notch set of sounds for less then the xv 5080, all sitting inside kontakt and cubase sx. but, you know, to each his own.

Its funny this thread iz still kickin'LOL.
Well since this beeyitch iz still alive ill just add a finishing comment about what Truth had said where he had a good point being - to each his own. But as for my humble opinion, i would have to say that there iz nothing wrong with using a sample cd as long as it has quality mic'ed sounds and isnt outragously priced. I mean whats wrong with having a plethera of great sounding drums?....Nothing i would assume, but i guess theres others who disagree where as if you dont dig up every sound your self then your not a real dj/producer...LOL...Whatever - like truth said, and i agreed upon - - to each his own.
I sample all of my cosmetic sounds myself - but as for drums i like to have a huge library of top notch sounds to work with and get things started. that way later on i can change things if i have to but not too much since tha sounds ill be working with will already be pretty dope.
I have sampled plenty of drums on my own as well, but i def. prefer to have a giant kit or two to work with off tha bat that i didnt specifically dig for.
