Logic is the goods, wont go back to Live ever again....(at least for tracking and processing)....Gigging thats another story.

We used to use this method back in Logic 7 when i was fuckin with this emcee that liked his vocals stuttered...it was a cool easy way to achieve the effect we were goin for...

Nice post man.

I have Logic but don't use it. I think if I did I'd use Redmatica's joint for chop'n samples rather than this method. From what I've read Redmatica allows u to do more manipulating of the sample.

What Just did is still a good solid way of getting it done.

I can do the same thing in Ableton but faster. Maybe because it's what I use on a daily. I use slice to midi, set my warp markers and it's done. Instead of poly, I have the "choke" feature which works the same ( cuts off the previous sample ). I actually think Ableton gives you more control over cutting off the sample because you have the ability to assign certain samples to 16 diff't choke "groups". Meaning only the samples in that certain choke group will cut off the other samples in that choke group. If I'm not mistaken what ever samples you have in the EXS use the same poly setting. It gets the job done but if you really want to manipulate things beyond imagine Ableton affords you that possibility. I don't sample much but when I do Ableton gives me "crazy" ways of manipulating them.

Word, as a whole i appreciate the features of Logic more, but Live def has stuff like that on lock. I just find my workflow lends itself more to Logics environment....

fa sho....it's all about your particular work flow. For me, Logic & Pro Tools are a waste since I do more producing and arranging just music these days. Back when recording vox was just as important to me I had to depend on Pro Tools a lot. Now I just concentrate on the track and when it's really time to drop the song I go to another more suitable studio for putting the two together. My engineer lives, breathes and eats Logic so I'm covered. I guess I got the best of both worlds when it's time to complete a song.

As far as just producing a track though, unless another DAW can give me the fast work flow and accessories that I get with Ableton I'm staying put. I've worked with many a hardware and software and nothing has made my job easier or faster than AB 7.

What chopping effect are you speaking of?? The one just blaze did or the one the other guy was speaking of with the vocals??
its like some effect that finds the "beat marking" placements for you. I guess its purpose is to make sure that the samples you chop loop correctly. You know you gotta chop it right for it to loop right. Atleast thats the purpose I use it for.
