I believe Puffy may be distributing her music with a two-in deal. He is allegedly behind the scenes. She is working with a manager/cat to distribute music in a quarterly fashion, rather than in an "album" fashion.

The reason I post this:

1. It reaffirms the beliefs of people on this site that the resurgence of the 60's sound has yet to peak in popularity.

2. She positioned herself as a "different" and "weirder" artist (aren't they all) than her competition, thereby differentiating herself. The music, however, has all 60's influences on it.

3. I think the fact that a quarterly release strategy is good PR as well as a possibly effective business strategy. It separates her again from other artists.

4. The major may have been behind her to push her as a "MySpace" phenomenon AFTER the fact she got signed. So there is the appearance of an internet phenomenon, when it's just really good PR work by the major. (I can't prove this point, though.)

If someone else posted about her -- I apologize for repeating a post.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't OUTKAST the actual re inventors of this sound? She may have taken it and ran with it but Andrea 3000 brought this feel back to the game. Listen to OUTKAST last two albums for those that don't believe!

I see she has SEVERAL Atlanta show dates....kinda proves my point!

This is definitely something I'd listen to on a regular just to break up that "same ole same" feel of hip hop and R&B. It's the equivalent of that 60's sound mixed with that "purp"...... "fire"!

LDB,

In my post I never made the claim that she was the instigator/inventor of this resurgence in the 60's sound. Thus, I don't know why you brought up the Outkast situation. I think, perhaps, I should have better articulated my point so that people reading my post can better understand my intent. In fact, I thought point number 1 on my short list indicated that there was a resurgence of 60's sound, and this was believed by many people on this forum.

Andre 3000 indeed should be credited for this new trend (reference- "Hey Ya"), which then dissipated to Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Gnarls Barkley et. al. It would be brash to assume that this artist "created" the sound.

I'm confused at why you deduced she "invented" this.

Sincerely,
God

yea....Big Boi's label has folded. He and Killa Mike have been beefing big time. I'm sure Big Boi has some paper work on the chic though.

Hey G, you ever read "Differentiate or Die" by Jack Trout? I like the way they positioning this chic. i think the cash cow that is downsouf, tpain, techno timbo justin timberlake sound has been rinsed to the death and now its time to "differentiate or die!" lol

anyhow back to this chic. I like her stuff, like Lil Drama, its good to break away from the same ol same ol sound and have something refreshing for the ears.
