Is the Korg electribe for hip hop?

I know that the korg electribe is known for its techno usage. but is it a solid machine for the money if you want to produce hip hop? I mean can you get good choopped samples and drum pattersn with this thing? I have ahd an mpc for a few years but sold it and want to get someting new for not as expensive as an mp. Can anyone help me out? Thanx

I dont think it matters if it's meant for "Techno" usage. It's how the user use the machine.

yea. you could use a tape recorder and make hip hop on it. FL is also known for it's easy techno capabilities, but it's still awesome for hip hop. i'd say give it a go at a guitar center or something.

the electribe is a series of machines... u must be referring to the ESX... its a cool machine, but its sequencer is not up to par with an MPC... it'll twist up a sample though.

the elctribe stuff is ok nothing special tho really !

the ESX sequencer is a bit limited, but I record all the audio from a performance directly into a 808ex and it comes out perfect.
