Yeah make sure your computer has good specs(do a search) and get yourself some good recording software and a few plug ins. I mean do you want to go software and hardware together or jus hardware or jus software. If you going to be big into samplin then get you some records to. But um good luck wit your project.(studio)

any synth from 1984 and over is probably a midi controller and you're only gonna need knobs n shit if you like tweaking synths (like acid). I suggest an old synth, I can recommend a 2nd hand juno106 or JX3P or JX8P but a yamaha psr would do the trick aswell (when you like the key action).

what brand? what'll they run me?

depends on what you are looking for. i personally have the krk 5's and they're good but i would have rather preffered something with a bigger bass. this ran for about $400/pair

Along with your ciurrent setup:

New soundcard
Studio monitors(I just copped some this week, Sam ash is havin a crazy sale)
as for a midi controller, go wit the Oxygen 8 Midi Keyboard. Affordable and wont take space. FL studio readily accepts that. Also, if ya using FL, there's really no need for a MPC (unless) you want one...I would go with a drum machine like the MPD or somethin. No need to spend all that money when things are available and do the same thing for less. Dig?
