How do you create your vocal samples?

I'm talking more about acapella, is it possible to take just the vocal track from a song and use that? Or are there any good ways to manipulate a vocal sample that has instruments in it so that really just the vocals come through?

I'm using FL9XXL, and I have general knowledge of edison and slicex but I can't seem to figure out how to do this.

Do you mean just sampling something? It all depends on what you're looking for. I prefer to grab from an acapella because it's clean, then I can do whatever I want with it.

Yeah, say I wanted to sample the vocals out of a song I've got on my pc, because I really dig the lyrics and the flow of it. Its not acapella but I want to make it acapella, or as close as possible. I don't know if I am making any sense here but I hope you get the general idea.
