After already owning a home studio and having recorded/mixed/engineered for numerous people, i would DEFINITELY prefer owning a Commercial Studio. The atmosphere alone sets it apart. Its all about business and professionalism. At home, anything can happen. House phone rings, washer/dryer/furnace, kids running around, etc. Plus I "dont bring unknown ni&&@s in your crib."(Well put Dacalion) The list goes on n on. It is very expensive as H&R stated before but dats part of owning a business. It takes money to make money. I would love to wake up, take the kids to school, go to the studio, work my 9 to 5 there, leave and pick my kids back up, and spend all night with my family. I know thats quite unrealistic at the moment but reachable if everything is in place. I would also have another engineer work nights because I know there are alot of lazy artists out there who dont wake up till 1 in the afternoon and are most productive at 2 in the morning. I have contemplated this very thing for quite some time now and once the chips are in place, its a no brainer.
