HELP, getting rid of my mpc................

well, its like this: its going to cost me 250 for the 8 output expansion, plus 100 or so for a cd-r drive, and thats 350 dollars right there. plus i still need a mixer, thats like 2-300, and a cd burner is going to run me another 140 or so............ and all of this is shoping on the lower end of things. plus i need mics and i need to start getting better drums....( mainly kicks and snares.....) so after all that (i am sure i left a few things out.....) i will have spent 800 or so dollars to begin to get the most out of my mpc...........

i figure for that, i could sell my mpc and get 800 for it.... i can sell it with drums from the triton le and motif............. and get that new px-7 command station from emu, or the mp-7...and make payments on it for three months and take the other $550 and get my mixer and cd burner, and i would be all set. its just irritating me that i cant burn my own discs without using someone elses, and i cant stand not mixing my tracks..it makes it sound a bit cold and lifeless..... plus i can expand the sound pallette of that with the emu roms (which i was planning to add to my motif rack anyhow) and i would be reasonably well set................

add to that i have sworn off sampling for a while, and i figure later on i could add an akai Z8 or emu Ultra sampler, because i can create my own roms with that...... but this way i can not be tempted to sample (i really want to be able to just create from scratch. i will sample again, however!!!) so in the end this benifits me in two ways- one, it allows me to have a more complete rig much faster (its taken me like 4 years to get the little i do have) and it will ultimately make me better at creating from scratch.............. what are your guys's thoughts? any suggestions, maybe a different alternative? i cant go software... (this is my work pc, the home computer's messed up and now there is only one, and they arent mine to begin with...) any help here?:headbang:

i feel ya..yo Truth i have the same problem...this hobby we have is costing me an arm and a leg...i got the mpc 2000 and sometimes i wanna throw that thing out the window...but i've made some good stuff with it..i also have to buy the 8 outs and plus mine is breaking down...some pads don't work...so i figure to get an XL with the 8 outs..as for your predicament if you don't use sampling too much you don't need the MPC..so don't bug out..you aren't losing much from your point of view.

don't get rid of it truth......go to musicansfriendonlie.com or musicansfriend.com and you can get the 8 out for 150$ or cheaper install it yourself...it's very easy.....when I got my 2000xl I paid 1200$ for it without the 8 outs the studio ready mpc was 1800 dollars with the same amout of memory...There are no machines that can match the sequencer on the mpc and only one I know (asrx) that is a better sampling machine ...so don't rush into getting rid of it ....kepp stackin your doe and you'll be able to do it....You can mix your tracks in the mpc as well by using the trrack mute feature or using the track mute feature in song mode copy your sequence about 10 times that's the same sequence in 10 sequence banks on the first sequence mute all you want for your intro to the beat and just set up all the other sequence the way you want and when you record the beat while the sequence is playing use the cursor to highlite the sequence and turn the knob to the right one time and after the last bar it will go into the beat and all your add ins and take outs are on the other sequences change as you want...or you can do it the lazy and just use the track mute take what ever you want in and out while you record live......The mpc is one of the greatest machines ever please truth don't get rid of it learn ways to around things that you don't have

yeah i know how to do the mutes and all that........... i probably wont end up doing it, because i know how hard it was to get it!!!! a grip of kids want this thing........... i'll check the 8 outs on musicians friend. AMS sells it for 250...... anyhow, i guess patience is a virtue............. i dont really like the emu drums a great deal......... plus i just read a ton of reviews on my lnch break and they seem kind of ametuerish...... hey whats the difference between an mpc 2000 and the mpc 2000xl?

2000.... i keep seeing all these sample cds with thousands of sounds for 10, 2-, 30 bucks........ so i guess il get the drive first and get the mixer on payments and buy the 8 outs next month....

keep in mind that when switching to new machines it will always take a while to master the new machine. you can get the 8 out option for around 150 EUR, so in the US it should be even cheaper. Speaking of mixers, check out the behringer mx1604, it has 4 mono tracks and and 4 stereo tracks and is about to be discontinued, so that I expect them prices to fall. it´s about 150 and will certainly do the job. friend of mine uses this mixer just for his mpc and has linked the behringer mixer to his other mixer and he´s pretty happy with it. just some thoughts, hope it was of anyl help ...

yeah i just decided to keep the thing.... cant really be beat for versatility..... im getting a cdr drive this month and then im getting the mixer and 8 outs next month... i was pretty close to doing it though. i keep getting the urge to sample again, but i am trying to remaon disciplined and tough it out!!!! i am in a good slump here and i just want to make music!!! i get pissed when i have no ideas.... so i guess i felt like switching would force me into this creative mode again, but i know thats just foolishness. i think i will just go back to writing for a minute, mabe complete a song or two...

Remeber the sequencer on the mpc is the best in the business....That motif rack has enough sounds in it for you to run out of ideas...I remeber when I was in school and the teacher wanted us to write something and I never had anything on the subject to write about and she told me to free write and it will turn into what you need it to....just sit down and pound on the pads and/or keys without trying to go in a specific direction and something will come out

Yo, dont get rid of that MP kid... You dont even need a cd drive to upload sample from a cd. You can do it if you have a computer with a cd rom drive. Just copy your sample from the cd-rom (once you loaded up your cd-rom sample kit), and paste it to a floppy. Then take that floppy and introduce it tou your MP. The MP reads wav. files Theres ways of working around the bugs.
