Has anyone here who uses Logic, Live, or Cubase tried the Guru vst? I am waiting to make the switch to a more powerful program at some point early next year but i have to say some things about fl are awesome for hip hop...primarily the step sequencer and the sample list you can scroll thru on the left hand side. Apparently this guru vst does basically those same 2 functions in any program, just wanted to see if anyone has found it useful or has any reviews.

guru is tight if u want more info just go here www.fxpansion.com
if u think fl studio is great for hiphop why u wanna change prog then? i dont get it.
maybe u think that cubase or sonar or wuteva sequencer make your beat sound pro because the pro are using it?

its not what u using its the result that counts.plz keep that in mind.
good luck.

reason isn't compatible with VSTs, so that would be the one exception. i more meant you can use this to take some of the hip hop friendly features of Fl into programs such as Logic or cubase, and i just wanted to see if anyone had tried

i know man, believe me. im not one of these dudes who thinks switching to logic will make me scott storch. however, there is not even an argument over what is a more powerful software suite once its mastered and especially for controlling your mixes, logic and sonar beat FL hands down. FL is cool for a lot of hip hop things, but i find it to be unstable and I hate how it only works on PC. Right now i'm looking for something that will give me an industry standard platform on mac, so its between live, logic, and MOTU right now for me. the thing is, the features I described in FL are nice for hip hop, but as long as GURU can give me them in any other program, there's no need for me to hang with FL. thats why i was just wondering if people had tried guru, so im glad to hear you've found it useful

Guru is cold! I use it standalone. There's a demo that you can try. A lotta times I do the whole beat in Guru and don't even use it as a plugin until I 2-track it out for the MC.

All I gotta say is try the 'Heavy swindling' groove template at around 25% and study the graphs they're powerful. The graphs are a similar concept to the MPC's note variation sliders.

The only thing I don't like is that the mute groups could be better. As it is, you can only mute between the four pads in one row. Which is fine for drums, but it's not as flexible for melodic samples or vinyl samples. But you can work around it with the scrub graph.

Also you can take any sample and play it pitched. So you can still make melodies with it.

Guru is cold dog, you won't be disappointed.
