Got my first keyboard workstation!!!!!!!!!

After making beats for just about 6 years now, I have finally been capable of affording a keyboard workstation!!! Am not leaving "Reason" no doubt but this is definately something I have always wanted ever since I started making beats. Having the capability of working completely on a keyboard without having to turn to a computer is something I have been waiting for, for a long long time.

The piece i got is the newly released Roland Juno-G. Same sound engine as the fantom X but stripped down in a couple of ways. It retails at around £700 in the uk but managed to get it 2nd hand for £500. Its in brand new condition, it seems this dude only had it a couple of months. I got 256mb ram inside of it for sampling and a 1gb pc-card with the package! The sounds are amazing! Beats any sound I have ever heard in Reason software and the refills i have played with over the years.

Been saving for quite sometime but originally was going to get the Korg x50 for £420, but i mean for £80 extra I got a full workstation!!! compared to the x50 which is just a soundmodule with keys, no sequencer, no sampling etc. I had also intended to buy the motif es rack which has great sounds, but this was at £610 and I would still lack a workstation which is something I have dreamt of for years.

Anyway here are some pics, just had to share with my illmuzik fam.

sup man dat juno-g is nice man i was thinking of getting that or the fantom or motif es i dont know yet i played with the juno-g sounds way better then resaon if u played with it thats true i played with it and still not the motif or the fantom im looking to buy a workstation keyboard or a mpc i dont know yet because i have to sample and play the keys but its hard if ur on a budget lets know what u made with it i know the sounds sound better then reason thats true

yo thats sweet i was looking at getting that, i actually just got the korg microx recently and thats got some good sound ( the same as the x50 i think) tho im not sure if it still works thanks to my recent house fire !
i still might get the juno-g only i don't need all the workstation or sampling stuff i just need the sounds but they dnt do a module for it and its a good price !

yeah i was looking at the microX too. but the soundset is slighty different to the x50. they both have the same base 32mb pcm from the triton series, but the addition 32mb is different. the microX i think had 32mb from some dance expansion board while the x50 has less dance oriented sounds for the extra 32mb. the x50 is a good buy though if you are after the triton sounds. if you want the roland sounds, you could cop a second hand fantom xr for £599 from soundonsound.com http://www.soundonsound.com/readers...&ManufName=&NoDays=30&OrderCat=1&OrderDatAZ=2 you have to sign up to view that i think, but its free.

I have already done a beat on the board, the basics of sequencing on it are really really easy, most intuitive board i have come across. i think its sequencer is similar to the fantom x. Right now I havent got access to a pc/laptop at home since am replacing my big laptop with something smaller, so waiting to get that (posting from an internet cafe right now). But as soon as i get the laptop ill upload the track.

yea that sounds about right, the microx is good obviously 25 keys is a down but i use an 88key controller so thats not a problem, you can spot the triton sounds straight away from it but i think you might be right with the dnace expression board, theres some really good synth sound but for real instruments its no good, they keys and brass etc aren't the best, but for the money ( i got it cheap as an ex-demo) you can't go wrong ! my mo'phatt is good for certain things but again its crap for real instruments so im not sure whether to go for a motif es rack or the juno g next, having said that all of my stuff could be knackered and i could be starting again !

Congrats Afrique, you made a very good choice, its all in one, the only reason I settled on the x50 is I use the mv8000 as the sequencer, I demoed the Juno its pretty impressive, is there another Juno too? I didnt see a sequencer or maybe I overlooked it...good luck I cant wait to hear the new music off of it.
