Just saw this on another forum, will post it up in a sec, but the basic story is that, well, u know google changes its logo to coincide with events, well supposedly the g was changed to a rope, made to look like a hanging thing...any ways, peep this, bullshit in my opinion, they wouldnt do such a thing....Peace...
Mountain View, CA (AP) -- Google has stirred up quite a bit of anger among the black community on this day of celebration and remembrance. Each holiday Google changes its standard "Google" icon to a different, festive logo sporting some of that holiday's traditional images. However, Google may have gone a little too far on this Martin Luther King day, when its logo was changed to a "Google" featuring what appears to be a noose hanging from the second 'g'.
"This is an absolute outrage", said Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland. When asked if Google should face criminal charges, he added "They should hang for this".
Google has a tradition of being the 'groovey' mid twenties sensation, using humor and a light-hearted atmostphere to pull in its users, making it the number one search engine available on the internet. It recieves more search queries per day than any other webpage, and has a multitude of other websites dedicated to its name, even one which pits one search term against another to see which brings up more pages.
When reached for comment, Google Co-Founder and President Sergey Brin offered a press release stating "We stand by our decision to post the logo. In these days of political correctness, these people need to learn to just take a joke." In contrast to these harsh words, Google did take down the logo and any references to it early in the day, most likely in fear of the African-American lash back.
