Gate on Master??

hey all

jsut wondering if its wise to put a gate on the master of ur final mix? and if so wher? (like b4 compressor/limiter or after?) i was playing around and i put it b4 compressor/limiter and it seem to add a little clarity - can any 1 tell me if im trippin or wat?

I only use a gate for vocals and vocal sample, dont think its wise to put it on your master track.

don't put your gate on the master. The only reason I would see for doing this is to cut off the hiss before and after the track is done playing. All you would be doing is possibly cutting off parts of your actual beat. Maybe it gives a certain effect but it seems like you wouldnt want that. Gates are used to cut off unwanted background noise so i'm not sure what it'd do for you on your master buss. My .02,
