The story is being told for international perception. In the US if kids go missing you never hear about it. The news coverage is trying to cover up the fact that the U.S. simply doesn't give a rats ass when someone goes missing. By running the story constantly while another country is involved in the investigation and has its own citizens following the case, it makes America look like abductions are treated as a high priority.
I actually applaud the news coverage because unfortunately most abduction cases are ignored by the police until the story is reported, and then the authorities only go through the motions to cover their ass.
Hell, just a about a week ago a lady called in to the local hip hop radio station pleading to the public to look out for her daughter who apparently had been taken by a maligned family member.
When the lady went to the police and told them her daughter had been missing for 48 hours they did nothing.
I think the big problem with abductions is that the police wait to long. If a child is missing, the police won't respond until they've been missing for a certain amount of time. By then all evidence or even witness accounts are almost non-existant.

you have no idea how often i see amber alerts and and reports in the paper and stories on the news abut missing people.... but we simply cant get info on every single missing person. sorry but this simply isnt true....
now we can get into the whole "well they shouldnt do more for everyone, blah blah blah..." and maybe so... but you act like nothing is ever done for anybody missing... everyday in the paper i read something about a new missing person. ESPECIALLY minors... so the article is bullshit as well.
now, the media tends to go into a frenzy over particular cases.... which i could care less about, but if i were this girl, i would want the same attention for my disapearance.
one day i hope one of you come up missing and nobody gives a flying fuck where you are, and with any luck you'll be in buffalo bill jr's basement putting lotion in the basket. im sure you would love the same search effort for you.

The netherlands didnt do anything special because most of the F16's are specialy modded for locating/scanning/detecting anything below it. We dont send out F16's into dogfight...we dont have that many planes hehe. And as for Coke Capital of the Dutch Kingdom, I dont think they can solve the crime if they cant even prevent the locals trafficing to the netherlands with kilo's coke stuffed up their ass.

what are you guys running low on material? you got to stretch this far to have somehting to bash the U.S about? any of you guys have kids? well when you have kids, and they come up missing, i want you to say "fuck my kid" and get all pissy when your country makes a massive effort to find them.

man i see a new amber alert (missing chilren report) daily it seems.... yeah ok we have freeways with marquees with them... emails get sent out... marquees on local tv programs.... giving the name, age, location last seen, last seen with, possible destinations, man we get mailers once a week on a missing child with the same info..... seriously you are all VERY wrong in this case sorry to say.... you dont know what you are talking about and apparantly the article's writer doesnt know a damn thing about it either. take off the "i hate america" glasses for once.

but.... i said that t put the perspective on it. i dont care who she is, everyone deserves some attention for comin up missing. and lots of people get it, a few happen to make massive headlines, and when you go trying to find some political anti-US thing to attack... its pretty cold hearted.

A black child was abducted and the authorities wouldn't issue an amber alert, for vague reasons that have never been explained. The girl later escaped and found safety. There was no media exposure at all. Just a blurb in the paper. Like they were trying to cover it up and keep quiet about it.
Aurora, just outside Denver, is having racial tension brewing between citiziens and cops right now.
The mother had to resort to calling a local radio station pleading for people to be on the lookout for her daughter.
While the girl had been missing for 48 hours the police had been giving her family the run around saying they couldn't do anything. If not for the girls remarkable bravery the girl could have been dead.
I'm upset more at the media for glorifying this story, while ignoring others. Hundreds of kids probably thousands are kidnapped and the deserve no less coverage then what Natalee is getting. This should be the norm. If kids are missing America shouldn't rest until they are found. I think pressure to find them is eased up when the media stops running the story.
The fact of the matter is the majority of missing persons cases to recieve the resources or since of urgency that the Halloway one does.
I want the Halloway case to be the standard of how missing persons cases are filed.

but there have been several high profile missing persons cases, noth just this one. the mormon girl from utah? elizabeth something or other... that was a huge deal... massive media coverage. darva condit... massive media coverage. here in california i see missing persons reports every single day. i believe this particular case would still recieve masive publicity, although perhaps taht dickhead bill o'rielly wouldnt be all over it the way they are... yes there is an international element however i have seen seevral high profile cases like this that just wouldnt go away.
