Yo guys.

I'm thinkin off creating my own drumkit with some real good, industry standard sounds..not the overcompressed bullshit, but diggin trough kits n samples and sorting out the best ones, and combining them.

Im also thinkin about recording a bunch from some vst's (kontakt etc)
Now my question is, how would i gain stage the sample if i export it? or would it be best to leave it untouched? just record the midi and export directly as an audio file?

I dont want the recorded samples to be softer than the rest. perhaps i just have to experiment with this, but hoping someone has some experience and answers for me :)

Peace!

I can't answer that exact question, but there was something I saw a while back about making your own kits. Something like make sure that it's 24 bits, as 16 won't cut it anymore (I guess unless you're going for some dirty stuff), but also make stuff that's compatible with current DAWs. Common sense really.
