I don't think he'll break in. At least not if his body of work will be rapping about what the industry isn't today. I haven't heard one song on that topic that has made any noise what so ever. To be honest I'm tired of hearing it. We know the music is not the same as it once was. We know a lot of what's out there is str8 garbage..."we get it", at least I do.
To put it blunt, I just want to hear dude and anybody else on that "what they don't do anymore", JUST DO IT!
Just do what you're trying to do and leave the past in the past and if you don't like what's jumping off now DO U. Put out what you consider to be "good music" without coming off like you got the answer to the music industry's problems.
Dude got flow but if the majority of his music will be on this topic I personally ain't trying to hear it. I can't see ANYBODY making a career in music yappin about the past and how fucked up things are today. And I definitely know that's not the way to contribute to changing it.
The song would have been ten times more dope if he had just went stupid over the beat. JUST MY OPINION!
I feel you on that... I actually don't like songs like that either, but on his track I felt more like it was reminiscing rather complaining, maybe it's just the way I perceived it.
Just so you know though, not all the songs are on this topic on his album.... the album is mostly him just talking about life in general. Check the song on his myspace called Ghetto U.S.A. It was one of the best I heard from him on Minute to Midnight.
I wouldn't say he is already at that point where he's going to break through, but I think he has the potential to grow into a solid artist. I liked the fact that he wasn't coming off like I expected... I honestly expected him to just be rappin about how many glocs he's got, and how much he hustles.....
