as i mentioned in a different thread, my reason is screwed, and the cds are fucked! So i am gunna have to reinvest...so do i get reason again, i know how to use it etc, or go for cubase, or both! as they are compatible. What is the cubase interface like? i have heard from some peeps that cubase is hard to understand and use, is this true...I love reason and feel it is the way forward in comp sequencing, but i have heard cubase is more proffesional.

to be perfectly honest, while i have not yet used reason, cubase is an excellent program. it has a bit of a curve to it, and you will need your own outside vst instruments..... plus it has the added benefit of being a recording application, not just sequencing. i say, go for both, becasue cubase always has that added flexibility- you can do a complete album with it, vocals, live instruments and all, with very good sound quality. think long term here, i say..... and get both. actually, play with the cubase demo for a while first and decide from there.

if your just producing beats then just stay with reason. Reason is ten times better at sequencing. If your recording vocals use cubase, cubase is ten times better at recording. You get the point, if you do both get both programs. Create your beats on reason, make a wav file and import it into cubase and use cubase to record and process your vocals.

there is no real answer to this question except what u are planning to do with your music and what you want out of your prodcution software.......

reason -- awesome pre production program... reliable as hell.... recycle/redrum/rex machine is dope..... ....no vst support ...plus i wouldnt master out of it..somewhat limited amount of effect machines..at least compared to cubase

cubase -... unlimted audio procesing, very good yet time consuming and somewhat confusing midi options...easy to record into... vst compatible..rewire compatible.... i do not think cubase has a confusing interface i find it easy to use except for some fancy midi options that i dont really mess wit anyway...if you want a confusing interface try logic:headbang:

the main diffrence is that wit cubase you can use vst effects and sythns and u can process your audio undestructively with unlimited undo and offline processing... and you can record...... i say get both if you have the dough.... if u have to make a choice i would say cubase only if you want to record because you can do everything in one program...but i think reason is better to make beats in and plus its just faster and easier to work with.... my style is to make the beat in reason and process and mix in cubase

btw - it is my opinon that for sample based music reason with recycle is money!! if you work stricly with loops i would say go with ableton live 3 as a host sequncer because its faster and easier to sync and tweak loops with than cubase
